Condoning the overt excesses of this racist and corrupt party will take us down the same road except we will be like Somalia at the end with no winners and loser.

Now that we know that, we would also have to accept that it has permeated our society from its founding. What are we doing about it?quote:Originally posted by warrior:the black people was racist just like the indian in this election.quote:Originally posted by D2:what did Gadaffi said to the kid pounding on him..."what did I ever do to you?"quote:Originally posted by westdem:quote:quote2

Presently the PPP will possibly be returned to office with a smidgen over 50 percent of the vote. In this racist society do you think it is reasonable to expect the party representing one side to co opt all power? Should the the other side say that this is democracy and go suck on a Popsicle?

AFC did well by creating the minority government.

D2 the ruling party is a national party that represents all in the country. Winner must not take all, that is why there is parliament for issues to be tabled and discussed not the streets. What we have seen in the past is street action rather than dialogue from your leaders. Street action leads to looting/raping of young women, hence our streets gets taken over by criminal elements. Letâs not get carried away and blame the ruling party for being racist, if they were the Prime Minister would not be Afro-Guyanese

Nice supposition. Tell me what matter of importance from contracts to for laptops, the Marriott, the giving away of our lands etc that were discussed and detailed by consensus before the parliament? We do not want platitudes but systems. There should be no damn executive president and no closed lists and no race based parties and no tolerance for the gross lack of transparency in governing of the state as is typified by this government.quote:Originally posted by westdem:quote:Now that we know that, we would also have to accept that it has permeated our society from its founding. The criminal elements are in parliament and the state house not the streets alone. The system is flawed. It perpetuates the raping of the state under the distraction of the prevailing cognitive dissonance between the racial groups. Instead of working to discourage it with institutional fences; people like you are blind to their corruption, nepotism and fostering of a system of patronage to stay in power. Instead you are chock full of stupid platitudes about what the winning party is supposed to do when they do not give a damn about that.
I blame the leading party for perpetuating this dysfunctional system where stereotypes are encouraged and the blame game reciprocated endlessly. These are not democrats but old communists who are benefactors of a global game change which came with the fall of the soviet union and a flowering of democracy globally. They ought to have been discarded with the the old methodology they supplicated for decades and be replaced with young minds taking on the project for democracy into the new century. Everywhere in the world where these old fools remain there is growing discontent and a retrogressive calcification to oligarchic rule. It is not surprising that they pay lip service to democracy while they take us into endless cycles of raw, racial adversarial political crisis, from election to election.
I am an avowed gadfly to the PPP. I will not excuse their intransigence to change any longer. I will not abide with excesses of their corruption or be distracted from a focus on it on the presumption that any anyone protesting them are criminals ready to rape and pillage. That would mean me!
It is sickening to see that each election cycle the PPP ruling elite foist one dunce after another on us. They meet no criteria for leadership except as the PPP sees it. They have no record of accomplishment but can rely on people like you who bleat like blissful sheep that they are divinely transcendent hence apt for the job. That fat pig would not outlast the scrutiny of a public vetting in a real trial among of adversarial competitors in his own party much less in a real competition with other party candidates. We want that man that would have come out ahead in such a trial. He would be possessed of real moral standing, fluidity of mind, erudition and imbued with natural leadership skills. He would be a far cry from that hapless blimp who has leadership trust upon him.
We want democracy not autocracy. If the people take to the streets I hope they sit there until there are promised institutional reforms.

Hiow can this be so when the PNC, which only has black support looks like it will get over 40% when the African vote is 35%.
Until the PPP understand that they are hated by blacks, and the reason why this is so there will never be any unity in Guyana. Now Luncheon will tell you "I dont know".
By the way Sam Hinds is seen as a clown within his own hometown. He cant even deliver those votes.

yes let us hope they SIT. No one wins if there is violence.
Let us hope that ac onversation begins about the issue of ethnic paranoia and politicians stop folling themselves that there is any party which unifies. The one whioch claims they do got 10% and alienated many of its past supporters who felt they were ignored by them.

In the absence of useful commentary from competitive news outlet and people responsible to the nation, I can offer no sound opinion on the matter. This is reason why we have to get rid of NCN and open the airwaves to real news driven outlets.quote:Originally posted by caribj:quote:Originally posted by D2:there is no minority government. the problem with Guyana is that no one trusts institutions. Indeed the PPP might well have won 51% of the votes. But as GECOM is incompetent and the PPP untrustworthy people do not believe them.

You are a poor loser.
The PPP has acquired over 50% of the votes cast and is stll moving upward as the rest keeps coming in.
GECOM is incompetent but that does not mean that they rig the election in the PPP's favour under the watchful eyes of the PNC. IF that was so the PNC would have taken to the streets a long time ago. There are observers from all over the world who said that the Election was free and fair.
