Opposition not sure whether they wanted Rohee to instruct the police force

Home affairs minister clement Rohee arrived promptly at 10 hours to testify before the linden commission of inquiry.

He however took the stand after the break.

And the first line of question put to the minister came from the belly of the accusation that he minister Rohee had instructed the police to shoot at the protestors in linden on July 18.

Strangely enough however, is a change in position from the opposition after Rohee denied instructing the police to shoot, and after the lawyers failed to establish any conversation between Rohee the police to prove that theory.

APNU lawyer Basil Williams this afternoon, put top Rohee that because he failed to issue a specific instructions to the police, the protestors were shot at.

This change in position led the commissioner to then question whether the opposition was saying that minister Rohee should have given specific instructions to the police as opposed to general directions.

The opposition has over the past few months chastised the minister for allegedly instructing the police force on operational procedures.

Meanwhile, It was earlier established by the minister that he gave the police general directions.

And that was to take all steps necessary to maintain law and order.

Rohee told the commission that he old the police commissioner that he was relying on him to ensure that peace and order is maintained.
