Orphaned brothers plead: 'Don't separate us'

ORPHANED brothers Brandon and Darrion Roopnarine have refused to be separated.
The boys, ages nine and five, have been staying with relatives since last week Sunday when their lives shattered.
Their father, Khemchan Roopnarine, and his wife, Patricia Harripersad, were struck by a car as they walked to their Penal Rock Road home.
Harripersad, 36, is Darrion Roopnarine's mother. Brandon Roopnarine was born out of a previous relationship.
But Harripersad, a domestic worker, loved and cared for both boys as her own, relatives said.
Seudath Roopnarine, a relative, said, “Those boys grew up together. They did everything together. Now they cannot be separated. They told us they want to be together. They would not be happy separated.”
The children were walking ahead of the couple when the unthinkable happened at around 10pm.
The couple died at the scene. They were laid to rest last Wednesday.
Following the funeral the children have been staying with relatives.
A decision was taken to return Brandon to his biological mother, while Darrion stay with an uncle.
But the boys have refused to part ways.
