Former Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan signs off on 45 transfers of state lands. It would appear that part of the delaying tactics is to facilitate further illegal transfers of state resources as a last minute grab. These individuals should take serious warning and note that all corrupt and illegal acquisition of state assets will be investigated and those involved will be held accountable.
APNU/AFC MP Jermaine Figueira, and others among the recipients.
The publication of an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette on Monday (March 23, 2020), shocked Guyanese, as it details 45 transfers of state lands.
The 180-page document shows that the APNU+AFC Coalition’s Jermaine Figueira, alone, secured two plots of land in Linden, Region 10, which totals over two acres.
Further, while the gazette is dated March 21, 2020, all the land transfer orders were signed by the Coalition’s Winston Jordan on February 28, 2020 – raising concerns that the documents may have been backdated.

The lands are all on the right bank of Demerara River. The transfers of state lands to private ownership remain a contentious issue, particularly given the magnitude of the transfers.
On an almost weekly basis Transfer of Property Orders are included in the publications of the Official Gazette. Prior to this one, the last transfers of state lands were exposed in the February 15, 2020 edition of the Official Gazette, which detailed 14 transfers.
