Naiomi O Kumar, from a Guyanese woman living in New Jersey has been arrested and escorted by Essequibo police to the CID Headquarters in Georgetown for committing a Cybercrime on a Guyanese Journalist, Reema Natram.
On Thursday, the woman, who is currently in Guyana, was arrested by Essequibo police and placed on $50,000 station bail. More charges of similar nature are expected to be laid against the woman as more people are coming forward with allegations against her.
On December 28, 2021, Kumar used her husband and her Facebook profile “Naiomi N Tim Fredericks” and made a live Facebook video where she verbally assaulted media houses and personalities in Guyana.
She alleged that the information published on the sites was incorrect. She however single out popular Journalist Indrawattie Natram aka “Reema” and shared her number and picture on Facebook. The video surfaced had abusive languages including f***,SK**, P*****.
Since the video was shared it attracted over 7.1 thousands views and has caused Natram embarrassment and emotional distress.
Kumar has visited Region Two to attend her brother-in-law funeral when she was called in by detectives at the Anna Regina Police station for questioning.
Natram had asked her to remove the video and publicly apologized to her but she refused stating that nothing in her video is a lie. She claimed that she was frustrated during the time of the incident and wanted to vent her concerns.
If found guilty, Kumar could face serious jail term and heavy fines.
