Part of the learning curve as Calvin Ming endures tough weekend

Young Guyanese motor racing ace, Calvin Ming, endured a tough weekend on the racetrack, being forced out of his two races as a result of accidents in USF2000 Series for the Pabst Racing Team in Toronto, Canada.

Posting on his facebook page, Ming indicated that he had a rough time, losing his front wing on Saturday which resulted in him not finishing the race, while on Sunday he was also taken out after being hit and again did not finish the race, an important lesson that will test his and his teams’ ability to rebound and teach him to overcome setbacks of this sort. He has shown the ability to deal with tough situations as in the race where he clinched the F4 title his car was unable to change gears. Ming and team stuck the car in fourth gear and ensured he finished the race to earn points that handed him the title, showing his ability to work from adverse situations.

Summing things up of day one, Ming posted, “Rough day today. Started race 1 in P9 and managed to make my way up to P5, which I held for half the race. Unfortunately at the halfway mark someone made contact with me, causing me to lose my front wing, which led to a DNF. At least we showed we have the pace to run upfront. Time to come back stronger in race 2 tomorrow, starting from the 7th position.”

However, the young Guyanese did not enjoy success as he had hoped for, posting again; “Taken out in lap 2 after being hit. Not at all the weekend we wanted. However, this is racing and everything can be used as a learning experience. Time to bounce back in Mid Ohio in 2 weeks time.”
Calvin will be hopeful of the type of performance that brought him F4 glory in Mexico among others and moreso, an incident free run in Ohio in two weeks.
