We all know what is happening to Guyana. PNC is back to it's Burnham/Hoyte style.
Guyana is screwed under the AFC/PNC.
They can use terms like slippage etc to describe the current status for the economy but it is in the toilet right now while the AFC/PNC is partying.

Guyana's 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations will be historic. Guyana has a right to mark the milestone fittingly. PPP founder Cheddi Jagan and PNC founder Forbes Burnham both waged a mighty struggle on behalf of Guyanese to secure political independence. On May 26, 1966 those two leaders put aside partisan differences and embraced each other when Guyana's own flag was hoisted at the National Park for the first time. If the PPP didn't lose the elections it would surely have been planning to mark next year's anniversary in a big way. After all, a 50th birthday doesn't happen every year.

And yet the "50th" can be used for so much branding purposes. Guyanese companies wishing to attract business from those living overseas can link all sorts of activities to this event.
But I guess when the PPP spent millions on Hitz and Jamz to host huge concerts as part of their campaign, trucked huge numbers of supporters, all at tax payer expense this was OK. And we know that it was at taxpayer expense as shortly after the elections some folks showed up actually thinking that the new gov't would pay them for services rendered to the PPP.
