A human being that served his fellow mankind and the communty with dignity.

He was a Pandit, a politician and a friend to many. He was one of the PPP members who was locked up at Sibley Hall back in the days. He was a loyal PPP supporter who stood said fast to the cause.

When he migrated to the USA he continued his work as a Pandit and formed a Mandir in Queens. H e was the architect for the now famous Phagwah Parade in Richmondhill NY.

Earlier this evening he breathed his last breath.  I am on vacation in the Carribean , one of his young devotees gave me the first call.

Pandit and my father were friends from way back when Pandit was a Post Man and my Dad was a Prison Officer back in the late 50s.

I was in the same class in high school with one of Pandit daughter. As a teenager I used to attend Yagnas at his Mandir in Rampoor Corriverton. When I moved to NY , Pandit seeked me out and we became very close. Myself and a few other Skeldonians , despite not being Hundus were with him when he organized the first set of meetings for the first Phagwah and Diwali parades here in NY. Pandit and I shared a very close relationship,   he told me  many stories , about his childhood days, to his political struggles and about some his travels to India and the Far East.

Pandit will be missed but his good work will live on.

A true son of Corriverton, a true son of Berbice and a true son of Guyana.

Rest in peace Pandit Ji !

I just received a call from an old comrade advising me that Pandit had passed on. He was ailing for some time. I will always remember Pandit Ramlall as one of my earlier political teachers. I kept in touch with him throughout th years and only two months ago I got him to autograph a copy of his book. He was a genuine champion for the ordinary man.

Pandit Ramlall was an educator at Tagoor High School. He taught Soomdat Mahabir who holds a Ph.D. in NY. During my community service, I was honored to serve alongside some of the finest Guyanese known to me. Pandit Ramlall stood on stage with Hajji Zakir and pray together on Pagwah and Diwali occasions. The two of them look like Amar and Akbar from the movie (lol). My condolence to pandit Ralmall's family on his passing. RIP.

Do you know if the Manbahals are from Line Path? If they are, I know them.

Those Mahbahals are from Canal Number One .

I dont know the gentleman, but I have seen the parade. If he started the parade, thats a big accomplishment.

My condolences to his family.

He was the Founder and  main organiser of the parade in 1990 in Richmond Hill. The first parade was about 300 persons and every year since then the numbers grew . Originally Pandit wanted  to unite the main Hindu sections of the community especifically the Ayra Samaj and Sanatan followings with other Caribbean Hindus . Unfortunately as the years went by some elements , not in harmony with the original aim tried to hijack the parade from Pandit Ramlall. The matter ended up in court and Ramlall won the case.

He was in with others including, CVNunes, Moses Bhagwan , Maccie Hamid,

Brindley Benn , Harrylall , Vincent Teekah , Prakash Persaud , Balchand Persaud , Desmond Sheppard and a couple of others who I cant remember off hand.

CVNunes was a diabetic and was denied his medication thus resulting in a serious problems with his sight. Pandit Ramlall  a vegetarian wasn't able to get his vegetarian food, and visitors were not allowed.

Most of the detainees were in for close to three years ...
