PLAGUED by guilt perhaps, former AFC Chairman, Peter Ramsaroop, in a letter dated Thursday October 13, offered an apology to Agriculture Minister Mr. Robert Persaud for libelous statements he made against him publicly last November during the airing of a television programme. The following is the full text of that apology: βOn the 7th day November, 2010, I was a guest on a television programme, βEye on the Issuesβ hosted by Mr. Yesu Persaud and broadcast on WRHM Channel 7, and on that programme, I made certain libelous statements of and concerning the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Montgomery Persaud, MP.
With the passage of time, I have been able to do proper investigations and to reflect upon the said statements which I made of and concerning the said minister, and I wish to state, categorically, that I am satisfied that the said statements were made recklessly, irresponsibly, and without any supporting evidence whatsoever.
In the circumstances, I wish to tender an unqualified and unconditional apology to the Honourable Minister and his family for all or any embarrassment, humiliation, trauma, anguish and injury to character and reputation which my said statements may have caused.β
