By Dr. Peter R. Ramsaroop, Ph.D. MBA
Since May 11th, the new APNU Administration has halted numerous projects, therefore eliminating significant expenditures from the Treasury for 2015. It is the obvious that the promises made for significant VAT Reduction, Increase in Public Servant Salaries, decrease of the Berbice Bridge Tolls were not meant to be kept instead bigger government and ministries are utilizing the new available funds.
There has been a lot of discourse on Public Servants Salaries. The table below depicts the last five years of increases of Public Servants Salaries by the PPP Administration: I have always advocated that public servants should be paid more and with added incentives. APNU taunted the public servants with 20% Increase for 2015. I totally support this increase.
The PPP/C recently said they will support all of the economic 100days promises made by the Government which will be the first for any opposition party to fully support a government plan.
