As the President announced a decision to have parliament convened within 14 days supporters of the People’s Nation Congress(PNC) led A Partnership for National Unity(APNU) are worried at the party’s failure to drive its own agenda whilst catering to their needs instead of being dragged along by the Alliance for Change(AFC ) in its battles against the government.

A recent example of this is the no-confidence motion which came about following a Facebook post by Moses Nagamootoo and gained momentum after the AFC aligned Stabroek News propagated the issue. APNU was cleverly sucked into announcing public support for the motion despite its seeming unpreparedness and unwillingness to go to general elections. The PNC which essentially is APNU is currently plagued by internal strife with feelings of the alienation and victimization being felt by a significant number of its Region Ten constituents. As such, supporters fear that the party risks losing political ground gained in 2011if it rushes into an election in its current state.

Just recently the party held a series of countrywide meetings in an effort to test the mood of its supporters and try to build momentum. The response was astounding to the David Granger leadership as not much interest was shown and public meetings were poorly attended. Its attempt to use the issue of Local Government Elections to rally support is also failing miserably.  Its supporters are of the belief that not much has been done in their interest and the APNU has allowed itself to be used by former PPP members in the AFC who have waged a bitter vendetta against their former party.
