In response to criticisms of its refusal to pass supportive legislation for the Amaila Falls hydro project A Partnership for National Unity(APNU) did what it knows best and that is to attack those who share differing views. It suggested that if the local private sector is confident about this project they should invest their monies in it. The PNC's confabulation obviously forgot that it destroyed the private sector during its tenure in office. The fact of the matter is that even after twenty years of economic liberalization, the local private sector remains small and so emaciated from the repressive days of PNC rule that it is incapable of raising even half of the amount of money that is required to construct the project.
