Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, the last son of Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has described the minority political parties in Ghana as “useless” entities.
He told XYZ Breakfast that: “PNC, CPP, PPP, GCPP they are all useless”, adding: “Ghana’s politics is now NDC and NPP…it is clear that we are stuck with those dominant political parties”.

Dr. Nkrumah who now says he belonged to neither the main opposition New Patriotic Party nor the ruling National Democratic Congress said there is no way he will support his father’s party CPP or any of the other small political parties.
He said: “when we come to 2016 I’ll have to make a choice between NDC and NPP because those are the two options we have; they are the two parties that have the ability to win elections”.
Dr. Nkrumah was a member of the CPP but resigned to join the NDC in 2008. He later served as Coordinator of the National Youth Council in the Mills-Mahama administration following the NDC’s victory in the 2008 elections.
He however remained a harsh critic of President Mills’ style of running the country which cost him his job as Coordinator of the National Youth Council.
He still remained an NDC member but promised never to campaign for then President John Mills or vote for him in the 2012 elections.
Dr Nkrumah however later pledged his support for Nana Akufo Addo, the Presidential candidate of the main opposition NPP and announced his resignation from the NDC.
