The Peoples National Convention (PNC) has expressed disappointment over the posture of the Education Minister, Lee Ocran on the strike of polytechnic teachers.

A statement released and signed by the party?s General Secretary, Bernard Monarh said the minister?s comments on the strike has been distasteful and does not inspire working confidence.

The statement further said the party is not only disgusted about the Minister?s remarks but at the collateral damage those comments have on industrial relations cum the effects of a continued strike.

The party admonished that in moments of industrial unrests, cool heads are needed particularly by persons in authority.

The PNC stressed the importance for the Ministry and other actors to keep faith with negotiations to resolve the impasse and not resort to threats.

The statement also called on POTAG to, in the supreme interest of students and the country?s future; consider an amicable settlement so they can resume duties to save students from undue punishment and untold hardship.

Meanwhile the National Labour Commission (NMC) has asked the teachers to call off their strike immediately or face court action.

It has also asked the Controller and Accountant General to pay the teachers their revised salaries today.
