I cannot believe that the People National Congress cannot find a replacement for Brigadier David Arthur Granger. Mr. Granger in his mid seventies and battling lymphoma would be up against the youthful and dynamic Irfaan Ali. This is a clear indication that the PNC would not be the party to lead Guyana in the future. One may argue that Dr. Jagan was on his last leg when elected, but he had his replacements Mr. Sam Hinds and his wife Janet to fill that void. The same can be said about Forbes Burnham who gave Desmond Hoyte the nod over his cousin Hamilton Green. It is time that the PNC find a leader who will be able to take on the challenges of Guyana should they be elected. I perish the thought of another Granger Led Administration.

Yeah but the FILTH HEADS on GNI backing a half dead candidate and criticizing a youthful Candidate. Why?? We all know the reason.

Youth is about the only thing he has going for him. He is racist, corrupt and a liar. Forgot his fake degrees and qualifications? I have said it before and I am going to say it again, he was handpicked because he is mindless and easy to control. The PPP has many other better candidates.
There have always been Indians who stood up for the wrongs things that are directly in opposition to the interests of their own people and the Guyanese people as a whole. I am not taken aback when I see some Indos shamelessly support a party that has no respect for the constitution and the people of Guyana. They can cuss out the PPP and other democratic forces using character assassination as their main weapon. This does not diminish the strength of the people nor does bring more votes for the PNC. The PNCites are well aware of this and thus take no chances with free elections. Rigging has been their method of holding on to power. They have never had confidence in the ballot box. They have never had the support of the majority of Guyanese. Black Nationalists like Carib can argue as much as he wants it still does not change the fact that the PNC is a minority party that uses violence and fraud to hold onto to political power.
AMEN Billy!! They will go to their grave with that attitude!!

Well let's see how this plays out. I still believe Anthony for one would have been a better choice.

Who you fooling, the the PNC became PNC-R, isn't heading to the polls as a single party, the party joined forces with five other smaller parties and became APNU. Heading to the coming elections are APNU/AFC for the second time. The rigging spurting out is to detract, how the heck the PPP can win a combination of 7 parties, with their base declining.
There is no need for rigging, you are living in the past and preaching lots of nonsense. Get with the times.

Oh yes the same Sam Hinds who was fired from his position because the PPP couldn't imagine a black man as president. In fact prior to 2015 many of their supporters screamed that there would never be another black president in Guyana.
That Sam Hinds didn't resign out right just showed what a weakling he is because we all know that Civic is a sham and he is a de facto PPP member.

Let me give you a history lesson here. In 1978 Burnham concocted a constitution that made him all powerful and in order for it to be passed he needed at least 2/3 of the votes in a referendum. So off Burnham went and rigged the election and of course over 60% of the people on the Corentyne "supported" this constitution. Polling stations in GT were empty until after they closed at which time buses roamed around the city dropping off people. And we heard a massive turnout in support.
This is a Burnham constitution obtained under fraudulent methods and so the PNC can do with it what it wishes. The PPP should have spear headed a revision of the constitution to one which addresses Guyana's needs. Instead the kept this constitution with one or two cosmetic changes, NONE of which were brought to the voters for a decision.
The PPP is trapped in its own hypocrisy.

He would have as he would have signaled that Jagdeo doesnt run the PPP as his property, thinking that Guyana is his to do as he wishes.
Irfaan is a corrupt idiot and a stooge and even more ridiculous than Ramotar was. His selection shows that Jagdeo has nothing but contempt for PPP members and its support base.

You and others on this forum are fooling yourselves by deliberately or naively ignoring the fact that the fight for leadership in the PPP resulted in the formation of the AFC - a breakway faction with influential leaders like Moses. Moses was able to bring home just enough votes stop the PPP from winning a majority. Those thousands in regions 5 and 6 will no longer vote for the coalition for many obvious reasons. The economy is performing poorly and thousands of jobs have been lost. There has been no major economic development since May 2015. Hooliganism and constant harrassment of PPP leaders by the PNC. Increase in taxes and enactment of more taxes on the people of Guyana have alienated not only AFC supporters but even supporters of the PNC> The betrayal of the coalition agreement by the PNC and dominating the government and controlling all decision-making have led to a vote of no confidence by a brave member of the AFC. The disgraceful behavior of the PNC in parliament is totally distasteful and low-class.
Guyana must get back to the path of civility, democracy, and progress. This new government has put Guyana into reverse gear taking us in the backdams of Kimbia and Tumatumatari. We don't want rice cake and Burnham's crazy experiments with local industries. Granger's talk of plantain chips and guava cheese should light up a bulb in your head. This country is heading downhill under Granger.

Seriously what media you get your info from.
Sugar dead, Rice production have to cut cost, to be profitable. The EU told the Caribbean Countries, which Guyana is part off since 2008, to prepare for market changes. Just found the report, wonder if you ever heard about such.
What makes you think APNU/AFC depends primarily on the East Indian votes from Region 5 + 6 to win.

Carib,
You tell just half the truth and cover up everything else with lies. What you ought to mention is that the PPP could not amend the present constitution or completely draft a new one without 2/3 support of the parliament. The PPP never had 2/3 support in any parliament. To make those changes to the constitution requires the support of the PNC. They did not take the initiative of calling for meaningful constitutional changes in Guyana during their time in the opposition. Other little parties can take some credit for making such call but the PPP still could not do it unilaterally or with the support of the little parties since they did not have the numbers (2/3s). You and the other idiots on this forum have been screaming the same rubbish over and over again that the PPP did not want to change the constitution. Get over this blasted nonsense!

PNC's presidential candidate is a walking dead dictator and several dinosaurs are in the party. Their goose is cooked, its only a matter of time.
The quicker cancer takes care of that dictator the better it is for democracy in Guyana. He is a thug who has zero regard for the constitution, courts and the will of the people.

Nehru,
As the clock ticks on them they are getting more desperate. Lies and more lies are being peddled by Congress Place. Moses has degenerated into a mocking stick and his party does not stand a chance of winning a single seat should they contest independently. JFAP and WPA are now just parties by name and nothing else.

Major revisions require, as a minimum, two-thirds of the MPs to secure the needed changes.
PNCR made no steps nor initiatives from 1992 to 2015 to work with the PPPC to make the changes.
PNCR/AFC are the government since 2015 and they made no initiative nor action to effect the changes.
Of note ... ;
Burnham made the current constitution when he "miraculously" got more than 66% of the MPs in parliament.
I agree. Those people are only concerned about power, wealth and control. They care Rat's ass about the people. For 28+3, which is 31, believe me, cause I know the PNC will not believe it, they have been the same:Corrupt, inept, ignorant, illiterate and have been the masters of violence, corruption, bully ism, abuse of power and Taxpayer hard earned money. So I say to the Guyanese people, take your pick!!!!

Even though there was a major boycott of the constutional vote across Guyana, PNC won that by a âmiraculousâ landslide. WE must not hide the atrocities of the Pre 1992 period which is emerging again !
Yet the only party scared of getting the votersâ consent right now is the PNC. So they have resorted to running helter skelter clutching at every imaginable straw on the way. Maybe it is not fear. Maybe it is just their nature.
PNC never really understood the pulse of the Guyanese population. They are just a bunch of thugs who refuse to respect parliament, the speaker, the ruling of the court and will of the people.
This is just a replay of the dark period of Guyanaâs pre 1992 history.
I warned people like Gil and Mitwah of the PNC monster and now they are back to their usual dictatorial behaviour.
They are scared to face the people. That is the nature of the PNC.
They just declared war on the Guyanese people and democratic forces. The video is there for all to see the true nature of the PNC ! This will be the biggest battle yet since GECOM has become instrument of the PNC.
PNC has always maintained power through fraud and force. Someday, time will catch up with them. As Desmond Hoyte once said "Slow fia, mo fia". Translation - slow fire, more fire.

that is the question

Because the PPP is scared that people find out about all the dead people in Region 1 that used to vote PPP. The opposition parties lacked the manpower to monitor what was going on there and so it was a "jumbie jamboree".
If the PPP is so sure that they will win they should welcome a clean list, meaning that they will be confident that those legally listed as registered voters will cast more votes for them.
Their angst seems interesting. Why?

AFC Indo supporters in Berbice did not run back to the PPP in 2015. Ralph Ramkarran made that point in an article written after elections. He said the PPP lost because the AFC held to their supporters in Berbice despite walking over to the PNC. Stop twisting the truth.

1. Did the PPP ever make the constitution as an issue explaining that the opposition wanted to keep Burnham's rigged one? No. Jagdeo boasted that it was the BEST in the Caribbean.
2. Does the PPP try to have the constitution changed even now? No the scream as if the constitution is the bible to be obeyed without question.
The PPP's NCV should have been about the fact that the Coalition had broken a major promise that changing the constitution was to be a priority. They should have been running around conducting forums forcing the gov't to move forward with developing an open debate on this.
Instead they scream that the constitution is a great document and how dare the Coalition to disobey it?

And when Ralph Ramkarran told Guyanese that Jagdeo was in Queens screaming "we gun tek back Guyana from black man", did you agree?
When he said that Africans have the same right to fear the PPP as Indians have to fear the PNC, did you agree?
No you screamed all sorts of epithets in his direction implying that he is a self hating Indian and a traitor to the PPP.
And yet you know quote him on this one when an analysis of 2015 shows in fact that the PPP did take back its votes in Region 6. Despite what you might think there is a large non Indian population in region 5, 45% of the total. Guess what! That is where the APNU/AFC votes came in.
APNU/AFC received FEWER votes in Region 6 in 2015 vs. 2011 even as the PPP gained significantly more! The PPP gained 7,000 more votes or 13% of the 2011 votes cast.
Please explain why did the APNU/AFC do vastly better in 2015 everywhere except in region 6.

Minor changes to the constitution were made by the PPP.

1. The Constitution was prepared by Forbes Burnham's administration when it "miraculously" received more than two-thirds of the MPs.
2. As a minimum, it requires two-thirds support from all MPs, to make the needed major amendments/changes.
3. After PNCR rule from 1964 - 1992, MPs elected for the PPP/C and PNCR were in the 30's; currently 32-PPP/C and 33-PNCR/AFC/APNU.
