PNC Searches For Missing GHC 1.3 million Campaign Funds
A three member investigative committee has been established by the Peoples National Convention (PNC) to find GHC1.3 million missing funds meant for the 2012 election campaign activities.
Reliable sources at the PNC headquarters told Citi News that a greater portion of monies meant for the party’s 2012 election are yet to be accounted for.
As part of measures to retrieve the missing monies, the three member committee led by former PNC Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Haruna Bayariga has been tasked to investigate the shady deals.
The committee is expected to submit its report within three weeks. PNC Policy Analyst, Mohammed Atik confirmed the alleged financial misappropriation to Citi News.
He withheld the names of the suspected persons but hinted that they will be exposed in due course when the committee finally submit its report.
He said, “That three member committee is supposed to investigate monies that were given to some specific people in the name of the party and how come they did not spend the money as required.”
According to him, the decision was taken at the standing committee’s meeting.
Among other considerations, Atik Mohammed said the PNC leadership also proposed the need to have a strategic plan for the party saying, “This will serve as a guide for us as we all resolve that it is important to begin to strengthen our structures, expand the base of our organization so that PNC becomes that electable and formidable party in the next elections.”
