PNC wants Ramjattan as PM candidate so “yes men” AFC will likely concede, says Jagdeo

General Secretary of the PPP/C Dr Bharrat Jagdeo

Leader of the Opposition, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo is asserting that Chairman of the Alliance for Change (AFC), Khemraj Ramjattan will more than likely be selected as the Prime Ministerial (PM) candidate to contest the upcoming General and Regional Elections with the coalition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).

Jagdeo made the disclosure at his weekly press briefing on Thursday stating that the selection was reportedly made based on recommendations from the People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R).

According to the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) General Secretary AFC will once again confirm to its “Yes Man” status and give the PNC what they want.

“AFC this weekend will select its Prime Ministerial candidate… I will not be surprised if Ramjattan emerges as the Prime Ministerial candidate…that’s what PNC wants” Jagdeo said further.

Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan

Ramjattan at the press conference on Wednesday said that the matter is expected to come up this weekend at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

“We’re not there at this stage in relation to that. All of that will have to be decided at national congress,” Ramjattan said when he was asked whether incumbent PM Moses Nagamootoo will return alongside David Granger as the Presidential Candidate of the APNU+AFC coalition at the upcoming polls.

In accordance with the 2015 ‘deal’ in the form of a Cummingsburg Accord between the two parties, AFC will have the Prime Ministerial position while the Presidential post goes to A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).

On Monday, President Granger was endorsed by his party, the PNC/R, to run for a second term. In fact, the PNC/R – the larger partner in five-party APNU – officially threw its support behind its leader via a letter from General Secretary Amna Ally.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon on Thursday told reporters that the consensus among the five parties that makes up APNU is that Granger will return as the presidential candidate.

AFC has already indicated a willingness to support Granger as the Presidential candidate.

Funny Jagdeo talking about "yes men" , looks like he is trying to pelt some mud.

The is an assumption Naga may not run in the coming elections and Prak may be the Prime Minister candidate in the coalition gov't.

I wonder what Jagdeo would have done had Granger opined that Duffus Alli was only selected by Jagdeo because he is a simpleton who will easily be manipulated by him.

Anil would have required Jagdeo to be constantly monitoring him.  And a Anthony, Ramson or Vindhya might have slapped away Jagdeo's hand when he tried to snatch "oil money".

So President Duffus Alli it is.

That's probably why he selected President Duffus Alli.  Granger told him that the only way that the Coalition would have a chance is if they got to run against a corrupt simpleton.

Go take a look at the NCV debate in parliament. Ramjattan spoke like a drunk bum.

To me, he spoke like a prime ministerial candidate with flair and flourish, bluff and bluster, showmanship and sham, and I thought to myself: Prak is outdoing Moses.

No worries. Watch when Pressy Duffus gets cussed down by Volda and starts to bawl for Daddy Bharat to rescue him.

Is the KFC still going to get 40% of the seats? Or is the KFC is being absorbed by the PNC and APNU will once again contest the elections under the PNC banner? Ramjattan will have to be a PNC card-carrying member.

Ramjattan is an erudite speaker. He speaks clearly and his delivery is precise. He is certainly even a better speaker than Hughes who I think is among the first rank. Gail is up there and so is Ramson. You do not have the requisite perspective to grasp this simple fact.

The reasons for disliking the AFC, their limited force is a thorn for the PPP, as expected all sorts of questions will pop up.

Make that "was." Hope you realize they have been duped by the PNC and they are now begging the PNC to adopt them. Soon they will be called rejects from the PPP and PNC. The force is not with them anymore. Any force from them is hot air coming out of their kakahole.

I am as useless as you are a magnate...

And shuman is doing quite well. He is the rock against which the PPP and PNC will break themselves.

I was impressed with her presentation at the NCV hearing. Her attention to the surrounding was impeccable.

Bhai, that’s why I am going to the Ali/Gail Dinner on Feb 01. Gail delivered her arguments with precision, accuracy and attention to details of her surroundings. Some of her her comments to the AFC PNC distractors were razor sharp !

Ali needs some coaching from Gail and Jagdeo on delivery. He did a good job but it was loud and emotional. It was if he was too excited to deliver his speech and as such tripped over a few times. He is a quick learner and will polish up and improve on delivery over the next few months.

Anil was the best on delivery for the PPP. We must credit his experience as an attorney, it showed.
