Wisconsin man's arrest has grabbed headlines around the world -- not because of his alleged crime, but because he legally changed his name to Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop.

Zopittybop-Bop-Bop, 30, was arrested in Madison, Wis., last week and charged with carrying a concealed knife and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police say he violated his bail conditions from a previous arrest by allegedly drinking and doing drugs in a public park.

It's standard stuff for the local newspaper's crime blotter. But thanks to the man's unusual name, the story was picked up by media outlets from Wisconsin to New Zealand and quickly went viral.

A police report available online says "Beezow Doo Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop told officers that he would ‘Get even with them'" as they were taking him to jail.

"It is unclear what the suspect meant by his statement, but he was booked into the jail nevertheless," the report says.

Zopittybop-Bop-Bop had run into trouble with the law before for carrying a concealed handgun.

According to The Capital Times newspaper in Madison, his previous name was Jeffrey Drew Wilschke but he legally changed it in October
