Women Lawyer’s Association says …Police Commissioner should go on leave, allow rape probe to proceed
DECEMBER 17, 2011 | BY KNEWS | FILED UNDER NEWS

The Guyana Women’s Lawyer’s Association has spoken out against the Police Commissioner Henry Greene and the present allegations before him.
The association said that the allegation is a very serious one and requires an immediate and thorough investigation by the Guyana Police Force.
It was further stated by the members that they were surprised that to date Mr. Greene has not proceeded on administrative leave which he should have done forthwith.
They stressed that Greene, who is an attorney-at-law, ought to know that he should not be performing the duties of head of the Guyana Police Force while the said Police Force is investigating an allegation made against him.
The group believes that justice and fairness require that Mr. Greene is not on the job while the investigation is being carried out. In the circumstances the association is urging the Commissioner to immediately remove himself from the Office of the Commissioner of Police so the public can have some confidence in the independence of the investigative process.
The police are currently probing the report from the 34-year-old woman after she has claimed that she was raped by Commissioner Henry Greene.
The woman who hails from the East Coast of Demerara made the report to police at the Brickdam Station on Tuesday afternoon in the presence of attorney at law Nigel Hughes.
She is alleging that she was forced to have sex with Greene after she was induced with cash and a promise to assist her in a matter that is presently engaging the attention of the police.

The PNC/AFC flexing their collective muscles, using their supporters to set up high profile Blacks in the PPP administration. Kwame, Lumumba and now Green.
those is low like black people, and a disgrace to their race.no wonder the ppp want them

And this is the label you miscreant give to any Black that join or cooperate with the PPP. No wonder CaribJ claim no decent black join the PPP, that's because as soon as they do you charlatans assign them a label of low lives.

No decent person of any race will have anything to do with those three. Thats why many Indos deserted the PPP this time. They jumped to the AFC or they just didnt vote.

BTW its not that decent AfroGuynese refuse leadership positions...which they can provide whether or not they like the PPP. Its the fact that the PPP likes little puppies like the Two Jennifers, or thugs like those mentioned.

You have no evidence to substantiated these claims.
No decent person would have anything to do with Granger, an enforcer during PNC times who was tasked with brutalizing Indians.

Caribj,

While I agree with your assessment that McCoy, Lumumba & Greene are repulsive to decent folks ( I would add Henry Jeffery to the list) I do not agree with your assertion that all blacks within the higher echelon of the PPP are thugs, 'little puppies' or soupies.

When folks like Clinton Collymore, Sam Hinds, the 'Jenniffers' and Benns mounted the platform of the PPP, it was still a sanctified and respectable political institution with no comparison to the alternative in opposition at the time. The nature of politics and power in Guyana is such that I cannot recall one individual who has given up office on the basis of conscience or conviction. All had been in some way or the other fallen out of favour, targeted or pushed before making the leap and when they did there is not a welcoming mat nor an enabling or empowering atmosphere and the putrid fossilized alternative ( PNC) is not an option. One can only hope that the toe-hold that the AFC now represent would in time solidify into firm footing for those seeking a platform of change that are underpinned by justice, honesty, integrity and true patriotism and not self serving opportunism or featherbedding.

Are you suggesting that Sam Hinds, Collymore or the two Jennifers have any real clout? We dont even hear about Collymore any more. Do you suggest that Juan Edghill is a serious person within the Ministry of Finance?

I will give you Robeson Benn. Still a gross under representation of AfroGuyanese in top policy making spots under the PPP. Indeed the ethnic composition of the leadership of GECOM is quite disturbing when we consisder the ethnic paranoia involved in the whole voting process in Guyana.
