Police destroy over 740,000 pounds of marijuana in Berbice operation

An operation by the narcotics branch of the Police Force at De Veldt in the Berbice River has unearthed 10 marijuana fields.

In a statement, the Police Force said the operation started at 4 o’clock this morning and ended at three this afternoon. During the 11-hour operation, a total of ten marijuana fields with over 200,000 marijuana plants were destroyed.

The Police said five camps were also discovered along with a drying area. In one of the camps, the ranks discovered 2,500 pounds of dried marijuana.

A search in a nearby area unearthed a 12-gauge shotgun along with 49 live 12 gauge cartridges.

They also discovered a nursery with more than 200,000 seedlings.

The estimated weight of the dried and eradicated cannabis is just over 741,000 pounds.

The Police said an estimated value stands at several billions of dollars.

The suspected cannabis and camps were destroyed by fire. Firearm and ammunition along with a cellular phone found were taken into custody and lodged pending further investigation.

There has been no arrest as no one was found at any of the destroyed farms.

There was another operation in June that destroyed another marijuana field in Berbice.

Looks like the PNC was making Guyana a narco-state. No wonder they did not want to leave. Too much money behind.

Ever wonder why the investigators didn't charge anyone that was in custody? There is a lot more to the story. Plus the Henry boys murder.

What type of narco-state Jagdeo/Roger Khan  previously made Guyana ?  Under any government, Guyana is a difficult place to control illegal drugs.

Too much jungles and porous borders ,difficult to manage without adequate finance.

De veldt on the Berbice River is quite opposte to Crabwood creek on the Courantyne River.

Quite away from the mouth of the Berbice River ,boat will be needed to get there ,doesn't seem plausible there are connections to Henry's boys .

Guyana being used for transit from other countries don't help either. Hopeful Pompeo will assist in this regard and not only demand special privileges from Guyana.

Its obvious this Google explanation don't have a faintest idea about Berbice.

De Veldt is an isolated farming community in the Berbice river and it has no relationship with the Corentyne river, many miles apart.

Me thinks it was meant the location on the Berbice River to be opposite Crabwood Creek ,East to West .
