Toronto police have issued an Amber Alert for Joshua Low, 8, who they believe is with his mother.

Joshua was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with blue and yellow shoes. He is described as Asian, four feet tall and about 40 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police said they believe Joshua is with Jessica Yi Qing Low-Zhen, a 45-year-old Asian woman who is about five feet tall with a thin build, long black hair and brown eyes.

Joshua left the family's Toronto-area home with Low-Zhen on April 13, police said.

Anyone with information about Joshua is asked to contact police at 416-808-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Joshua Low, 8, was the subject of an Amber Alert Saturday evening. The boy, and his mother, Jessica Low-Zheng, 45, were located late Saturday night.

A missing North York boy who became the subject of a province-wide police search on Saturday has been found alive and well.

Joshua Low, 8, was reunited with his father late Saturday night.

The boy and his mother went missing more than a week ago. Police issued a province-wide Amber Alert Saturday evening after they received information that caused them to fear for Joshua’s safety.

Joshua and mother Jessica Low-Zheng, 45, disappeared from their home in a subdivision near McNicoll Ave. and Don Mills Rd. on April 13. Police received a call that day and arrived at the family home, where the father answered the door and said his wife had taken their son β€œfor unknown reasons.”

Officers launched a missing person’s investigation and received a number of leads over the last week. They located the mother and son Saturday night around 11:30 p.m.

Earlier that day police received a tip that the boy’s safety may have been at risk. Toronto police Const. Tony Vella refused to provide details on the nature of the tip, but said investigators were β€œquite concerned” by the information.

Officers contacted the Ontario Provincial Police Saturday evening to request an Amber Alert, a warning system activated by police when they believe an abducted child under 18 is in β€œimminent danger.”

The mother was taken into police custody Saturday night, according to Det. Mark Charuk.
