Sounds to me that Brooms and her driver committed assault and battery. The young men should be charged with destruction of public property if itβs proven to be legally authorized signs. But she committed assault and battery, no doubt.
BREAKING: Former Min. Broomes and bodyguard charged
Former Minister in the APNU+AFC Coalition Government Simona Broomes and her driver/ bodyguard Dexter Austin were charged with assault and discharging a loaded firearm respectively.
The incident stemmed from a development on Monday where men in a tinted car showed up on a government reserve and removed a nunber of signage which were placed there by Broomes as a security measure while she was minister. Broomes had adopted the government reserve.
Meanwhile her bodyguard was placed into custody and remains there while Broomes was released on self bail.
Her bodyguard was asked to hand over a firearm which was isussed to him by the Guyana Police Force to provide protection to Broomes while she was a Government Minister.
The two showed up at the Prashad Negar Police Outpost this morning in the company of their lawyer Nigel Hughes where they were told of the various offence.
The police provided the address of Broomes and Austin as 103 Lockoo Street Lodge, Housing scheme.
On Monday after the men showed up at the location infront of Broomes home, she alleged that one of the men threatened to kill her and she decided to follow them.
The chase ended in Sophia where a number of residents came out in support of Broomes and accosted the two men who showed up her home.
Most of the incident was witnessed live on Facebook while other aspects of it was not.
