The police should question Moses, Roopnarine, Harmon and Ramjattan.

Moses, Ramjattan and  Roopnarine are PNC outsiders. Congress Place should hold an emergency meeting and determine if this is actually as serious as it has been revealed by Gil.

Or

This could end up being a publicity stunt to draw attention away from Granger's sheer incompetence and an economy in despair.

Interesting times ahead. None of us support this threat if it is real.

-plotters contacted, DPP advice sought

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the police legal advisor are assisting with investigations into an alleged plot to shoot President David Granger while he is on one of his many outreaches.
Minster of State, Joseph Harmon, at a post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday morning at the Ministry of Presidency, disclosed that the administration has been provided with some information by the police about an ongoing investigation of this nature. The investigation has reached a point where advice of the police legal advisor is also being sought, Harmon said.
Harmon made the disclosure when asked about the alleged plot by a reporter. “While we have a popular President that all the people around the country love and embrace him, there are sometimes misguided people, especially of what they see on facebook and copycat type of issues and therefore we always have to be careful,” Harmon said.
He explained that since the investigation is ongoing he is not at liberty to disclose in any great detail the nature of the inquiry. “I have the full confidence of the ability of the security forces to protect our President and the ministers of Government who have been elected by the people to run the Government,” Harmon noted. When asked if names of high-ranking policemen were listed as being involved, Harmon said he was not briefed about such information.

$7M bounty
Meanwhile, in an interview on Nightly News a man who was approached to carry out the act spoke of a $7M bounty that was offered him to shoot at President Granger during one of his outreaches. The $7M it was said was offered by a prominent individual. The whistleblower in the interview stated that the businessman told him “â€Ķ President Granger, we have to have him assassinated before he moves from where he is living, before of course if he moves his security will enhance and you can’t get to him.”
He further related that the businessman told him, “you know we and the commissioner is friends, the whole judiciary is friends, we will take care of you, all you have to do is don’t let who you know get it done to know who is we, and we ain’t want know who you get.”
The informant explained that the businessman entered his house and brought out a large weapon which he collected and minutes later returned. He explained he had approached the businessman to conduct a business worth $6M when the proposal was made to find someone to assassinate the President and he will be paid $7M. “The next day I go back to he and said watch, me ain’t deh in them thing yo know, me aint event want you tell me back about that,” the informant said claiming that he never killed anyone before and is just a businessman.

New security features
Only last week Harmon defended the new concrete fence securing the Ministry of the Presidency (MoP), emphasising that it must be consistent with security features of a high office such as one of the President. The previous chain-link fence has been dismantled for a more than 12-foot high concrete wall that also provides now, for very little view into the premises.  Harmon then had told reporters that the MoTP has to be a safe zone. “We have to ensure that, whatever physical facilities that we put in place, can guarantee the physical security of this premises and the physical security of the persons who enter and leave this premises.”
He pointed to the 2002 shooting that left two persons dead after they had stormed the then Office of the President (OP). Persons were protesting against the then People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Government’s treatment of the people of Kwakwani and other Berbice bauxite mining areas when they barged into the presidential compound and were shot by guards.
“We have to put in place security arrangements that will prevent us from using maximum force as was done in the previous administration,” Harmon said, adding: “It is important for us to ensure that we have proper facilities. This is the office of his Excellency the Presidentâ€Ķwe have to ensure that all of the security arrangements that are put in place are consistent with that high office which the president holds, and the fact that it is located here.”
Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo was Guyana’s President at the time the protesters were shot. He had recently ridiculed the new security feature, calling it the “Great Wall of China”. “The Opposition Leader is entitled to give his opinion on several matters which he expresses very easily these days,” said Harmon.

Dude use your noodle, there are many ways plots come to light, think like an investigator.

Sure, the pnc are not the sharpest tools in the shed. They tell you about assassination plot and you buy it hook line and sinker.  Meanwhile they should bring in foreign investigators to follow up to give credibility to these claims as the PNC police is not to be trusted.

Check the today's news, there are some updates, your futile attempt to discredit the plot is making you sound foolish.

The more I read about this, the more I agree with Drugb. Looks like the PNC wants to shake down a businessman.

This is becoming a PNC Nancy Story to save one Jackass from disgrace.

Police refute claims its members involved in plot to assassinate President.

  Source

The Guyana Police Force tonight  refuted claims by a section of the media (MTV News Update Ch. 65) that senior ranks of the Force were involved in a plot to assassinate President David Granger which the force said the TV station intends to air  on its newscast tonight.

“This false and malicious accusation levelled against members of the Force is designed to tarnish the good reputation of the Organisation.

“Third Vice President and Minister of Public Security Hon. Khemraj Ramjattan said that Government is fully aware of all of the circumstances surrounding the issue at hand and is also convinced that no such evidence exists against members of the Force.

“The Police Force is therefore cautioning Media Entities against making such dangerous statements against its members, failing which legal action will be taken against those responsible”, the police said.

The Ministry of the Presidency yesterday said that an investigation is underway of an alleged plot to kill the President.

As I commented last night, it is an unfolding story. Information and misinformation are being trafficked. I mentioned an unconfirmed report about the alleged involvement of high-ranking police officers. I am glad the police today clarified that no top rank is involved. Waiting to see the names of the two suspects.

This story behind this plot does not sound plausible. Assassinating  Granger would not solve any of the problems that the country face or help the opposition further. The real power in the government is Harmon and Williams who will still be there. It can be argued that Granger is an asset to the opposition because he seems to be doing very little to alleviate the problems Guyanese face on a daily basis.

We know of many incidents in history when leaders want to strengthen their position, to move against their opposition.is this one of them?

Cops advised to do more work on probe of alleged plot against president

-deny involvement of members of force.

The Guyana Police Force’s legal advisor has advised investigators do further work on their investigation of the alleged report of a plot to assassinate President David Granger.

Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud told reporters yesterday afternoon that based on the investigation done so far, the case file was sent for legal advice, which the police received yesterday. “Actually, [there] was a witness that the police contacted andâ€Ķ the police legal advisor asked that we confront with the person making the allegation to clear some issues and then to resend [the file],” he explained.

He said it was hoped that the additional work would be completed over the weekend so that the file can be resent for legal advice.

When asked if the police have been receiving cooperation from those involved, the Commissioner said that there was a question of whether anything happened. “There are two individuals—the person making the allegation and a witness who has given the police a statement; witness meaning someone who could be able to give evidence to state whether this happened or did not happen,” he said.

Minister of State Joseph Harmon, at a post-Cabinet press briefing on Thursday, had confirmed that there had been a report of a plot by a group of men to assassinate the president. “We have a very popular Presidentâ€Ķ people all over this country love him and embrace him and sometimes there are some people who are misguided; some people are guided by what they see on Facebook and the copycat type of issues and therefore we always have to be careful,” Harmon had said.

Persaud said yesterday that anyone found culpable in such circumstances could be charged with treason. “Any plot to kill the president, to overthrow governmentâ€Ķ is treason,” he noted.

Questions were also asked about a report broadcast on Thursday on MTV Channel 65’s News Update, which reported that it was being alleged that senior ranks of the force were involved in the assassination plot.

However, Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan said yesterday that it was brought to his attention and it was untrue. “That is absolutely untrue.

There is absolutely no information on that and that can constitute public mischief and could lead to prosecution if it continues and also very severe consequences on the [TV station’s] licensing,” he warned.

The Guyana Police Force, in a statement issued last evening, said it was refuting claims made by the news broadcast. “This false and malicious accusation levelled against members of the force is designed to tarnish the good reputation of the organisation,” it said. The statement further noted that Ramjattan said government was fully aware of all of the circumstances surrounding the issue at hand and was also convinced that no such evidence exists against members of the force.

Meanwhile, the Alliance For Change (AFC), which is part of the coalition government, yesterday condemned the alleged plot and urged law enforcement agencies to bring the “criminal plotters and their handlers” to swift justice.

In a statement, the party said since the assumption to office by the coalition government, there has been “a well-orchestrated campaign of character assassination” targeting leaders of government, in addition to naked threats in social media posts. It also recalled that the police were called in to probe allegations of the private residence of the Prime Minister being staked out by a known criminal element.

“Our party cautions that race-baiting and inflammatory utterances by persons opposed to the Coalition Government have formed a bizarre backdrop for opportunistic elements to execute acts of criminality and terror,” the party added, before urging all Guyanese to be on the alert and to stand firm against and renounce criminal acts that could destabilize democracy and threaten the stability of the state.

Jagdeo urges expeditious, thorough probe.

Assassination plot

Describing as serious the alleged existence of a plot to kill President David Granger, former President and Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo, has urged that a thorough investigation be conducted into the matter.

          Bharat Jagdeo

“A threat to kill anyone, particularly the Head of State, must be treated seriously. I expect our security forces will ensure that this matter is investigated thoroughly, and that appropriate action (would) be taken against anyone implicated,” Jagdeo told Guyana Times on Saturday, when contacted for a comment on the matter.
Jagdeo said the probe must be expeditious, in order to erase any speculation of mischief. “This (investigation) must be done expeditiously to avoid allegations that this plot against the President was fabricated to distract the nation’s attention from the deteriorating economy and to justify increased security spending,” the Opposition Leader added.

Allegations
Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud indicted to reporters on Friday that the Force’s legal advisor, in reviewing the case file, will have to determine whether there is substance to the allegation, or if the allegation is just a ploy to create mischief.

President David Granger

“The legal advisor is the best person to say whether there is evidence; evidence to show that the allegation has been proven or that there was mischief, or maybe somewhere in between (and) cannot be determined,” he explained.
Nevertheless, the Top Cop pointed out that, whatever the case may be, both scenarios are unlawful, and as such, legal actions will be taken.
“Well, the allegation is one of treason. Any plot to kill the President or overthrow Government is treason. And on the other hand, if someone tells a police officer something that is false and caused him to act in accordance with the call of duty, then there is a charge of giving false information,” he explained.

Plot
In the meantime, the investigation into the alleged plot to kill the Guyanese leader is on-going. After taking statements from the complainant — the person who claimed that a businessman had promised to give him $7 million to assassinate the President — and another individual who had reportedly witnessed the alleged transaction, investigators have handed the case file over to the Force’s legal mind for advice. The file has since been returned for further work to be done by investigators.
“We got advice (on Friday). Actually, there was a witness that the police contacted, whom the police’s legal advisor asked to be confronted with the person making the allegation (in order) to clear some issues and resend (the file)â€Ķ Hopefully, over the weekend that will happen, and we will get advice on that,” the Police Commissioner stated.
Public Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan on Friday also denied reports appearing in certain sections of the media to the effect that senior police officers are involved in the alleged plot to assassinate the Head of State.
The Minister has, moreover, charged media houses to be responsible in reporting highly sensitive stories, as in this instance. The Police Commissioner also concurred with this view, noting that the media are a powerful element and have to show some form of maturity and journalistic ethics in reportage.
News of the allegation became public on Thursday, when State Minister Joseph Harmon confirmed that the presidential security has been beefed up following allegations that a group of high-profile individuals have been planning to shoot the Head of State should he step out of his secure zone in one of his public outreaches.

This is the most juvenile plot ever developed.  Does anyone ever believe an assassination plot would be so convenient and haphazard?  I remember, back in 2011, a similar hoax being spread by a certain PNCite on the AFC FB page!  Total distraction!

One cannot expect too much from a Jackass leader and his bunch of Jackasses.
