Police on Wednesday morning turned up at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, Bharrat Jagdeo, on a complaint that he called the President, Prime Minister and another person “jackasses” at an event on March 10 at Babu Jaan in Berbice.
The Police officers also asked Jagdeo to reply to complaints about his statement to “chase them out” after March 21, the date when the life of the Government would have expired if the Court of Appeal did not overturn an earlier ruling by the High Court.
Two officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) showed up at Jagdeo’s Church Street office to seek the reply to him over the complaints.
Jagdeo’s attorneys Anil Nandlall and Sanjeev Datadin were with him during the meeting and agreed to prepare a statement.
Jagdeo is expected to speak on the issue at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
