Police report: 186 weapons turned over during gun amnesty

AT THE conclusion of the Firearm Amnesty, on Wednesday, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that a total of 186 weapons were turned over.
Included are 153 shotguns, 13 pistols, 10 air rifles, 9 revolvers and 1 AK-47, as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
The divisional breakdown of where the weapons were turned over are as follows:
‘A’ Division (Georgetown/East Bank Demerara)
• 1,192 rounds 7.62×39 ammunition.
• Five (5) .22 pistols and three (3) magazines along with 88 rounds .22 ammunition.
• Five (5) shotguns with forty nine (49) cartridges.
• One (1) 9 mm Luger pistol with thirty eight (38) 9mm. rounds.
• Four (4) .32 pistols along with one (1) magazine and 347 matching rounds.
• Five (5) air rifles
• One (1) .22 revolver
• Four (4) .38 revolvers and 126 matching rounds
• One (1) .357 revolver
• One .32 revolver with seven (7) .32 rounds
• Fifty one (51) rounds .25 ammunition
‘B’ Division (Berbice)
• One (1) .32 pistol with ten (10) .32 rounds
• One (1) 16 gauge shotgun with ten (10) cartridges
• Four (4) 9mm. rounds
‘C’ Division (East Coast Demerara)
• Two (2) air rifles
• One (1) .32 revolver with five (5) .32 rounds
• Three (3) 9mm spent shells
‘D’ Division (West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo)
• Two (2) air rifles
• One (1) .32 revolver
• One (1) 9mm magazine.
• Three (3) 16 gauge shotgun cartridges.
• Three (3) 20 gauge shotgun cartridges.
• Thirty one (31) .30 cartridges
‘E’ Division (Linden/Kwakwani)
• One (1) air rifle
• One (1) improvised shotgun
• Two (2) shotguns
‘F’ Division (Interior Locations)
• One hundred and forty four (144) shotguns
• One (1) AK 47 rifle
• One (1) 9mm. pistol
• One (1) .32 pistol
• Seven (7) cartridges
• Eighteen (18) .32 rounds
• Ten (10) 7.62×39 rounds
• Four (4) 9mm. rounds
The gun amnesty programme started on September 1 and with a two-week extension ended on October 14, 2015.
