Two individuals, believed to be plainclothes Police Officers, were seen fetching documents out of NICIL’s Headquarters in Kingston

– SARU Head denies knowledge

– Top Cop confirms launch of criminal probe

Police Officers were on Wednesday afternoon observed loading piles of documents belonging to the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) into the back of pickup trucks.

Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud confirmed that the Police Officers have commenced investigations into the controversial entity; however, he did not elaborate on the probe.

Two individuals, believed to be plainclothes Police Officers, were seen fetching documents out of NICIL’s Headquarters in Kingston.

However, when contacted, Crime Chief Wendall Blanhum said he was unaware of ranks being given an order to remove documents from NICIL.

“I am not aware of that,” Blanhum said.

The State Assets Recovery Unit (SARU), which has been playing a role in investigations of this nature, also denied having any knowledge of documents being carried away.

“I don’t know what you are talking about. I just left office, SARU has not removed anything,” SARU Head, Dr Clive Thomas said.

State Minister Joseph Harmon had announced that Government would be handing over the NICIL forensic audit report to the Police to further investigate the contents of the report. He explained the forensic audit conducted by Anand Goolsarran into NICIL proved that there was sufficient information for the matter to be transferred to the Police.

To facilitate this, NICIL Executive Director Winston Brassington and his Deputy Marcia Nadir- Sharma proceeded on leave.

The police are bunch of dunces who love to take bribes and extort money from people and businesses. PNC and their friends at work.

Seelal Persaud is PNC? I thought that it was the PPP who gave him the job.

Mr.T

But much of that  force has been assembled under the 23 years of PPP oppression, and under direct control of the commander in chief Jagdeo. Ramotar did have an equivalent role during his tenure as well. So the police is a hand picked PPP assembled force. How could it possibly be that the PNC could have arranged that?

Mr.T

The PPP has to take responsibility for not diversifying the military and police even though it's a very difficulty thing to do. Indians need to make more sacrifices to ensure their own security and survival.

Indians don't make any sacrifices as far as the army, police, or even nursing is concerned. As soon as someone reports a gunshot the first people to book a flight out of Guyana are Indians. The police recruitment policy should change and encourage regional race based police stations if necessary.
