A brilliant half century and bowling figures of 4-15 by national middle order batsman, Chandrapaul Hemraj led Port Mourant to a massive victory over Police Cricket Club, as the Berbice Cricket Board’s Senior 50 Overs competition commenced under brilliant sunshine at the Port Mourant Community Center on Sunday last. Winning the toss and electing to field, the Port Mourant bowlers proved too much for the visiting Police team, as the policemen were bowled out for 74 in 30 overs. Batting for Police, C. Lindie top scored with 20, while S. Phillips followed with 12. All the other batsmen failed to reach double figures. Bowling for Port Mourant, Chandrapaul Hemraj took 4 for 15 in his 9 overs, which included 3 maidens, while Omesh Mathura and Arif Chan took 2 wickets each and Doorasani Mahadeo took 1. Batting for Port Mourant, skipper Chandrapaul Hemraj made a belligerent 52 not out off 42 deliveries. His 52 included 4 x 4’s and 2 6’s. He received valuable support from Loydel Lewis and Daniel Samaroo. The competition continues on Sunday at various venues across the county of Berbice.
