I attended a graduation party last night for a young man who graduated   with his doctorate in engineering from NYU.

Dr Roopchand Hardowar made a very emotional speech thanking everyone of us especially myself and Roshan from Apple Shipping as to being his mentor. His father died when he was two years old, as a kid  he was a farmer in Guyana and came here when he was 13. He grew up very very poor but said poverty was what drove him to become a high achiever. He mentioned that his grand mother instilled in him to be the very best in anything he chose to do.

Roop worked for me in the mid 90's when he was teenager, driving one of my trucks and I distinctly remember him reading his text book in every spare time that he had. He was very protective of his younger brother and his other siblings.

I wish this young man continued success.

Roop is a warm and gentle soul. He worked with us on the Guyana Day Committee and other community organizations with a responsible approach to his commitment. He's a terrific guy.

He is also someone with a practical intellect. I congratulate him, and sorry Chief that I couldn't make the function last night. I even passed the house on my way between my own commitments.

Jokes aside, congrats to the young man although I don't know him. But anyone who had to work for Chiefie will be driven to do better.
