THE People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has signaled their intention to join in celebrating Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary, come May 26, 2016.
With the rising anticipation and enthusiasm as the date nears for the Golden Jubilee, the PPP/C has confirmed that once they are invited to the activities leading up to the big day they will be
present.
PIVOTAL ROLE
Speaking to members of the media on Monday during a press conference at Freedom House, PPP/C’s General Secretary Clement Rohee when asked if the party will join the celebrations said: “We have played a pivotal role in Guyana’s development over the past 50 years. Therefore the PPP/C’s participation in the celebrations is definite since the party also represents half of the country’s population.”
Meanwhile, corporate entities and ministries have also taken up the mantle to set the pace for the upcoming celebrations by decorating their surroundings with paraphernalia and symbols to represent the 50th Anniversary.
During a walk around the city the Guyana Chronicle discovered much anticipation of the forthcoming celebrations and persons were ready for the upcoming events.
Persons lauded the government for their work so far to get everything in place for May 26. And aside from the upcoming mega concerts and other events, several government and non-government entities have been doing a good job by setting the pace for an enthralling Golden Jubilee.
