No pending visit by Indian PM

While social media has been abuzz with reports that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Guyana before the planned May 11th general elections, this is not so.

Director General of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Elisabeth Harper confirmed to Stabroek News that the government has not issued any invitation to the Indian Prime Minister.

I hope that the AFC and APNU are on guard for massive rigging and inefficiencies in majority black districts, like polling stations not opening.

And significant voter intimidation on the Corentyne with known AFC supporters receiving "visits".

With maybe 45% of the voters being Indian, and not all PPP supporters, and with the PPP determined to win 50+1% of the votes this election will be a mess.  Its no point crying AFTER because you know the PPP will make sure that everything looks sufficiently decent for the observers to claim that they didn't find any irregularities. Especially if they are from  CARICOM.

No Caribbean nation is going to want to set a precedent preventing them from pulling the stunt that Ramotar, and Denzil Douglas of St Kitts Nevis pulled.  Yes they too had on MONC and engaged in all sorts of shenanigans.  Ralph Gonsalves of St Vincent is also up for election soon, and he will also want to play dirty tricks.   Kamla wishes that she could but the PNM is too strong.  Freundel Stewart of Barbados wishes that Bajans weren't "stupid" people too dumb to understand that politicians should be allowed to engage in fraud to retain power. Jamaica is too violent for any PM to pul that stunt, but they too wish that they could.

So NONE of them will say BOO if Ramotar engages in massive voter fraud.  They would only wish that they could as well.
