Earlier this week Auditor General, Deodat Sharma handed over the 2013 Report on the Public Accounts of Guyana along with other Ministries, Regions and Departments to Speaker of the National Assembly, Raphael Trotman.  It is interesting to note that the tabling of such reports in timely manner was absent entirely during the PNC’s tenure in government. In fact no audited accounts were prepared during the period between 1983 and 1992. It was during this time that current APNU shadow Finance Minister and economics guru, Carl Greenidge functioned as Minister of Finance in the PNC government. Prior to the PPP’s ascension to office in 1992 the last auditor general’s report tabled in parliament related to the fiscal year 1981 and was tabled in 1987.
