[www.inewsguyana.com]- The ruling People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) is now meeting the Alliance for Change’s (AFC) recent 10-point demand of the executive with a ‘demand’.

General Secretary of the PPP, Clement Rohee.

General Secretary of the PPP, Clement Rohee.

General Secretary of the Party Clement Rohee today (July, 14),  during the Party’s weekly press briefing, said that the AFC has developed a brazen appetite in its demand making ways on the executive under the guise of having the interest of the country and people at heart.

“Our party remains cognizant of the terror that was unleashed on Guyanese along parts of the East Bank corridor following a previous demand/ultimatum by the AFC. During that faithful afternoon many were beaten and robbed and denied their constitutional right to freedom of movement, law enforcement officers were subjected to wanton abuse,” Rohee said; adding that the Party is concerned over what the new set of demands by the AFC has in the making.

The PPP/C is now demanding that the opposition instead of making demands support government’s demands and “show the Guyanese people its seriousness about developing Guyana.”

The PPP/C 10-point demand includes: support for the Marriott Hotel, Specialty Hospital and Amaila Falls hydro project; expansion of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport; passage of the Anti-Money Laundering Amendment Bill and the Customs Amendment Bill. Additionally the PPP/C wants the opposition to restore all cuts to the national budget, support reforms in the security sector, allow cabinet to maintain its no objection privilege to the Public Procurement Commission and support government’s investment policies.

Rohee made it clear that the Party is not prepared to meet the opposition’s demands at this point.....

Why is your English so similar to Rohee's?

Final confirmation that the PPP is a dictatorship.  They LOST the last election as most voters didn't support them and yet they STILL think that they can UNILATERALLY foist on Guyana their views, without discussion or input.

No wonder the PPP is scared of LGE.

One strongly believes the main reason why the A.F.C/A.P.N.U is hesitant of passing the no confidence motion is that they are very cognizant of what the likely results would be.

Marriott Hotel is shrouded in corruption.

Amaila Falls run out of water most months. Fip tek money and give up.

CJIA expansion expense would have made the great CJ go ballistic.

The Anti-Money Laundering Amendment Bill favors the launderers.

The Customs Amendment Bill ditto.

No way. The opposition cannot support the above.

Rohee should stop playing abna-babna and accept the AFC 10-points demand.

fool the ppp is a minority government, and sliding fast what the hell you think the result will be

The PPP was a victim of their own success, complacency also played a part in the outcome of the 2011 polls, should be the AFC/APNU pass a vote of no confidence, the P.P.P would easily secure a majority...

D_G, please wake up and study the implications of the 2012 census.

Ralph Ramkarran writes: "The census results show that in Region 6, a stronghold of the PPP, the population declined by 15,000 at the end f 2012. Adding Regions 5 and 3, also strongholds of the PPP, there was a total decline of 20,000 persons."

PPP/C == more than 50%?

No way.

No way.

We have about two years - or less if a snap election is approved - to review my suggestion.

Census projections/implications are different issues and factors from the actual voting patters in each election.
