Movie in the making to capture struggles of Dr Jagan

A group of Dr Cheddi Jagan admirers are in the process of making a full-length movie on his fight for freedom in Guyana; and his life subsequent to October 1992 to current times.
Initial aspects of the pre-production phase would be done using purely Guyanese expertise, with the final stages slated to be contracted to award-winning Hollywood movie-maker, Deepa Mehta by Guyanese in the diaspora.
It is estimated that, working around the clock, research and collation of material, scriptwriting, casting and other aspects of pre-production will be completed in approximately six months, after which the international movie-makers would complete the process, hopefully for a red-carpet premiere on Dr Jagan’s next birth anniversary.
This project would largely be funded by private enterprise, with 20 minutes of the three- hour length feature film slated to highlight the dynamic turnaround of Guyana’s developmental landscape from that obtaining prior to a Jagan presidency.
Several prominent businesses are already on board and the initial stages have been jump-started.
“Although the movie is planned to be a block-buster entertainer, it will be entirely factual, incorporating Dr Jagan’s earlier struggles, his long years in the wilderness, return to democracy in 1992, and subsequent to President Donald Ramotar’s first year in office; it will not have a documentary effect but will be a real adventure movie with real-life heroes, with every word and action authentic and dynamic to our history.”
