After much speculations, it has been confirmed that the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is getting set for elections whether local government or national elections.

The PPP on Tuesday, September 24 announced that its leadership met on Saturday, September 21 at Enmore, East Coast Demerara.

According to a press statement, “Much emphasis was placed on putting the Party into an election mode especially in view of impending Local Government elections.”

The PPP says it has intensified work on “community outreaches involving party members and activists. Hundreds of community and face to face meetings are being held throughout the country aimed at taking the party to the people and trying to find solutions to problems on the ground.”

According to the Party, “it is the first time in the Party’s history that a Central Committee meeting was held outside of Georgetown.  Immediately after the conclusion of the meeting, Central Committee members broke up into groups and went on house to house visits in Enmore and the adjoining villages with a view of obtaining first hand information on issues and concerns faced by residents in the various communities.”

The PPP also attacked the opposition and the “hostile opposition media” particularly the Kaieteur News for their continuing attempts to “destabilize the development agenda of the PPP/C administration through the reckless use of its one-seat parliamentary majority.  The opposition parties in this regard are aided and abetted by a hostile opposition media, in particular the Kaieteur News which continues to spew on a daily basis lies and slanderous statements against the government and state functionaries.”

Additionally, the statement noted that, “The meeting heard presentations from the Party’s General Secretary Mr. Clement Rohee and President Donald Ramotar. Arising out of the presentations, a Framework of Action is being developed which also took into account the Central Committee Report, Congress Workshops and the Political Declaration which was adopted at the recently-held PPP Congress.”

“Particular attention was paid to strengthening the Party and making the Party through its structures more proactive in terms of representing issues of concern to the masses to the relevant agencies both at the regional and district levels. The crime situation was identified as one of the areas that warranted a heightened and more robust attention by the authorities,” Freedom House stated.

It's good to see the PPP adopt a grass root strategy---it's a winning game plan---that's the approach for the party regain the majority.

Check this:

2011: 11634 Berbicians in Region 6 voted for the AFC.

2006: 3091 Berbicians in Region 6 voted for the AFC.

QUESTION:

How many of those Berbicians in region 6 will the PPP win back in the next election ?

Taking a poll of those registered to vote and those who actually vote are different issues.

2011 elections had a few aberration which are being addressed, in particular, by the voters.

While a specific number not be apt, it is likely that the PPP/C will recover from the last election to eventually gain more than 50% of the cast votes.

Bottom line:

In addition to being complacent, the PPP ran a piss poor campaign in the last election---they are now returning to a grass root strategy---and that approach ought to propel the party from 48.6%(2011) to 50+% in the next election.

Those PNC riggers and House of Isreal thugs are now part of the PPP/C inc. Jagdeo and his soupee Boodhoo tried to rig the outcome of the 2011 election. Forget?

Mitwah

The PPP/C is in a better position to secure a majority at the next election, they have fully recovered from incumbency fatigue and are fully charged to take Guyana on the path of economic success.

People tend to forget about wrong doings at election time and vote for their party.  An APNU win would spell doom for Indians because the 'Afro_PNC' will always be jealous of progressive Indians and seek to destroy them.

Given the dismal performance of the opposition with their parliamentary majority, the Guyanese people will ensure that the PPP wins overwhelmingly. The electorate has seen how the opposition is only interested in blocking progress, they will not vote for shine rice under the PNC nor highway robbery under the AFC complements of Hughes and company with their unethical behavior.
