A few residents of region 5 during their protest action

[www.inewsguyana.com]The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) says it supports the action of residents from Regions 2, 5 and 6 who on Wednesday staged peaceful picketing exercises at the respective regional GECOM offices.

A press release from the PPP noted that protesters bore placards calling for the resignation of GECOM’s Chairman Dr. Steve Surujbally and the demand for the Party’s legal request for a final general count.

“Residents are frustrated and feel cheated of their democratic rights. Hence, the Party calls on GECOM to act responsible in this very fragile moment in our country’s history,” the PPP noted.

The Party continues to maintain that it was cheated at the just concluded general and regional elections and demands that GECOM grants its request for a recount.

The PPP also intends to file an elections petition.

The PPP must focus on getting rid of the old communists and involving a much younger generation. Retool the PPP and get rid of the thieves in the PPP.

We need to move Guyana beyond this election.

Time for change. It will do Guyana good.

* Lemme get this straight!

* The PPP was the ruling party and they are now claiming that the opposition party and their supporters rigged the elections ?

* Listen folks! Just for the ruling party to allow the opposition party to rig the elections---that alone reveals the ineptness of the PPP----they should be in the DOGHOUSE---out of office for another 20 years.

* After 20 years all the old goats will be dead and then the new and fresh PPP can win a general election and rule Guyana again.

I stand shoulder to shoulder with the 50% disenfranchised voters, mainly the Indians that voted for the PPP and was cheated of their democratic right to be counted. GECOM installed an undemocratic government that can be manipulated by the Western government. The new undemocratic govt is setting the stage to sell our natural resources and make Guyana a killing field for the first world nations.

If Jagdeo is let go, things will fall into place. However, with Gajraj back in Guyana. A fight in the party will be brewing.

The election was free and fair. The PPP lost to a more energetic and organized APNU.

PPP has shown it's age. It must retool or die.

We must not be fooled into blaming the West for our loss. They are our friends and partners. The PPP made too many enemies and paid a hefty price. They must learn from their mistakes.

Jagan and Rammo made the same mistake.

Time for young PPP supporters to rise up and chase away the goats and thieves from the PPP.

FM

*It is estimated that 19,034 East Indians---11% of the East Indians who voted on May 11th---voted for the APNU/AFC coalition.

* You PPP hardcore supporters can bawl and scream disenfranchisement all you want----but 19,034 East Indians made it happen---they voted for the coalition.

* THE PPP NEEDS TO DO SOME SERIOUS RE-TOOLING.

* Why waste time picketing ? Get to work and reform the party.

*Any by the way hooligans like Kwame McCoy and misogynists(women-haters) like Bherri Ramsarran ought to be expelled from the PPP.

* UNLESS MAJOR CHANGES ARE MADE--THE PPP WILL REMAIN IN THE MINORITY FOR YEARS TO COME.

* Who vex, vex!

Thanks to my friends who wish to persuade me to believe otherwise. Forgive me if I don't follow your good advise. I stand firmly with the 50% disenfranchised voters that's demanding their right to be counted and heard.

This makes no sense.

They voted - how were they disenfranchised?

The votes were counted - how were they not heard?
What purpose would a recount serve - didn't all the delays at GECOM, created by the PPP for just the purpose of recounting, allow enough time for a proper count?

Ramotar, former Ministers protest GECOM for recount, Dr Surujbally’s resignation

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Former President Donald Ramotar and a number of former government ministers who served under his tenure have taken to the streets, protesting in front the Office of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) in Cowan and High Street, Kingston Georgetown.

Ramotar and the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) are calling for a recount of votes at the just concluded General and Regional Elections and for GECOM’s Chairman, Dr Steve Surujbally to resign.

The PPP continues to maintain that it was cheated at the May 11 elections, which saw the APNU+AFC unseating the PPP/C’s 23 years in government. During the protest, the former President told reporters that the Party will protest peacefully for “as long as it takes.”

He believes that the protest action demanding a recount will effect a change.

“People are coming out, they are feeling cheated, it is the wrong basis for which a government should begin because the government does not represent the interest of the people.”

Ramotar said a recount will put the PPP/C ahead at a minimum of 2000 votes.

“But I think because the elections were rigged in different ways, it was rigged on the road by them recycling a lot of votes…it was rigged within GECOM itself, there were false Statements of Poll that was used to tabulate the results…these manipulation took place by many of the returning officers,” Ramotar said.

Meanwhile, the former President noted that the PPP/C is yet to decide as to whether it will participate in the 11th Parliament.

“That we will have to decide later on…I haven’t decided on that.”

I repeat:

This makes no sense.

They voted - how were they disenfranchised?

The votes were counted - how were they not heard? What purpose would a recount serve - didn't all the delays at GECOM, created by the PPP for just the purpose of recounting, allow enough time for a proper count?

PPP playing the victims as in the Burnham years.

They are in Govt.  How did the Coalition cheat them again?

The shock and awe of defeat has unsettled them to the point where they can't accept that.

They should be focusing on how they will move forward, who will lead them, who gets into parliament, etc.  They have the SOPs since election night and knew they lost.  How will more recounting produce more votes, unless they plan to add votes to the box.  But then the original SOPs have been signed by all.

PPP playing a dangerous game in these protests.

This is a 10 year slug.  BTW, BJ is a young Commie.  Honestly, I doubt the PPP will change in any of our lifetime.
