LAHORE : The Pakistan Peoples Party has decided to take out protest rally in Lahore today to condemn the suicide attacks on a church in Peshawar, and to express solidarity with the Christians community which is out on streets against the tragic killings.  The de facto chief of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari has directed party’s Punjab organisation to postpone its Punjab Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday (today) and organise a protest rally to show solidarity with the Christian community.

No new date for the meeting has been announced.

Party’s central Secretary General, Sardar Latif Khosa would lead the rally which will start from GPO Chowk at 4 pm and culminate at the Charring Cross at The Mall where Khosa would address the participants . He may urge the government to get tough on the terrorists.

The minority and ulema wings of the party would have central role in organising today’s demonstration.

By announcing to stage a rally in support of the religious minority, PPP has not only taken a lead over other political parties, it has also put the lives of party men at risk. The terrorists may attack participants of today’s rally being held in support of a community whom they consider enemies of Islam. Other parties have not planed any such event so far except issuing statements of condemnation.
