Preparations heighten for Monday opening of Indian Science exhibition

Preparations are progressing for the hosting of the Indian Science Exhibition which will be staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, from August 20 until September 30.

 

The Indian Science Exhibition is a collaborative venture between the Governments of India and Guyana and will showcase Indian ancient science and technology and the progress that India has made as it relates to science. It is expected to provide the Guyanese public with an overview of over 7,000 years of science achievements in that country.

During a visit to the venue today, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport’s Permanent Secretary, Alfred King said that the Ministry is pleased to be associated with the exhibition, noting that it will contribute to development generally, by motivating students to become involved in science, technology and Mathematics.

 

He further explained that having to recognise the importance of and value of the exhibition which was last hosted in Trinidad and Tobago, Government thought it best to have it in Guyana.

King noted that the Ministry would have put in a lot of resources and would have partnered with a number of Agencies such as, the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST), National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Guyana Learning channel, to make the Exhibition possible.

 

An exhibit that showcases India’s culture

 

The event promises to be fun filled as persons will have the opportunity to discover science and learn from the exhibits. Touch screen televisions will be there so that persons can access information, science models will also be available, and there will also be a quiz centre to increase visitors’ awareness of science and technology.

 

There will be many areas of science that children will come to know such as; biotechnology, space and nuclear science.
