That's very odd. They don't have such names in Suriname, which is only next door. They even wear traditional dresses at official functions. I suspect that these bucks have sold out.

In the late 60s, American Nazarene missionaries set up a camping site at Goshen, an Amerindian village in Essequibo. Churchgoers from the coast went annually, mixed with the natives and converted them. 

Right now an American Seventh Day Adventist crew is operating in Region 1. It provides schooling, dental and medical services and mercy missions with two small airplanes.

Remember, coalitions after elections are not allowed under the constitution. With vote numbers so close between the PPP and PNC, those vital Amerindian votes can give the PNC an edge.

The PPP needs to plan their election strategy very early. It would be best for PPP/C to include his party as part of their coalition prior to the election. It would make their job of attracting Amerindian votes a lot easier.

The old Guard of the PPP must pack up and go. Time for Change in the PPP.

Well said.  The PPP problem is that the old Guard refuse to go.  They say that Jagan left the party for them.  They are there preaching Marxism and causing division.  None of them has a clue how to run an oil industry.  They are still crying everyday for the sugar workers instead of finding solutions to move on and embrace the looming oil economy.

PPP's biggest gift to Guyana was Oil. Many at GNI were laughing at the PPP with the first few attempts at discovery. The PPP ended up being 1000 percent correct about oil. The problem is that Indo divisions and infighting handed the oil to a corrupt PNC. It is like giving pearls to the hogs.

Jagdeo was a good leader but he was also arrogant when dealing crisis and disagreements in the Party. He was too heavy handed and that heavy handedness was responsible for a rift in the Party in which the AFC emerged.

Priya and Gail also contributed to the PPP's downfall. They did not allow for cooler heads and diplomacy to prevail when the Ambassador was indeed meddling in Guyana's affairs. They failed to use the diplomatic channel to lodge a protest with Washington. 

All of that is history now. What has happened since the ruling that Jagdeo cannot run ? The PPP is at a standstill. The old guard at freedom house are stunned and are blocking the process for free speech, debate and for possible candidates to come forward and start their nomination process.

Jagdeo has to realize that he is no longer in charge and it is time for the current PPP leadership to hand over the torch to a NEW leader. Failing to do so will allow for Granger to rig his way to 2020.

The PPP had most of the Amerindian votes so even a coalition is not very additive however, joining with the PNC is bad news.  The PPP needs to broaden the tent outside of what they already had.

And who are the "old Guard?"  Do they include those who buse down the US ambassador?
