President declares war on crime being won by Law Enforcement

President David Granger has given a strong indication of satisfaction with the manner in which law enforcement agencies have been stepping up the fight against criminals in recent months.

On Wednesday, the President declared that “the war on crime is being won.”

The President noted that he is aware that he inherited a tradition of disorder when he came to office just over seven months ago and “many of the crimes were the continuation of gun running and smuggling and narco trafficking… and that’s why very early in my administration I committed self to strengthening security.”

The President said what citizens have not realized is that the Criminal Investigation Department has been strengthened.

“So even though we can’t prevent all the crimes, we can detect and bring people to justice.”

The President reiterated the importance of the ongoing Joint Services operation targeting criminals and terrorists.

The government is already claiming success with the “Operation Dragnet” which has resulted in high profile interdictions across the country and the gunning down of armed bandits.

Over the past few weeks, the Guyana Police Force has been stepping up its investigation abilities with support from the Government and a number of international partners.

Of course he would say this. It is helpful to note that Granger et al were always suspected of leading the bandits in Guyana as a political weapon. Now he merely call off his dogs.

Isn't this a declaration to be made by the minister of security, Rumjaat or is he 200 days leave like the rest of the Indians. Grander has to make such unfounded statements so to attract tourists for his Big Baccanal in May 2016, they badly need the foreign currency.
