President discusses renewable energy options with Barbadian company

PRESIDENT David Granger yesterday afternoon met with a team from Innogen Technologies Incorporated, a company based in Barbados, whose core focus is on the utilisation of energy generated from the sun in households and businesses in the Caribbean. Chief Executive Officer, Vancourt Rouse explained that the company’s main interest in Guyana is lending support to the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Incorporated in lowering the cost of electricity and improving the delivery to various communities, particularly those in remote areas.

“We are looking to help Guyana improve its national competitiveness in certain industries by improving efficiency and cost of energy, which has a very important input in the production of goods and services. So we are looking at the timber industry, rice industry, gold mining operations and the hospitality industry…” Rouse said.

Innogen Technologies Incorporated is part of the One Caribbean Media group (OCM). It has been the leading renewable energy installation company in Barbados since 2010.

Would you go to the store and purchase an item for $100 when it's only worth $50? That's what your tiefin PPP wanted to force on the Guyanese taxpayers. A hydro plant worth $500 Million and they were charging them $1 Billion. By the time cost overruns were added in it was going to be $1 1/2 Billion. Luckily, the Coalition government came to the rescue and the crooks in the PPP were denied of making their biggest haul. Hydro power is on the slate to be developed by the Coalition government but they will not rob the taxpayers blind and have them paying through their noses for another 50 years. You tiefin bastards have no shame or compassion for the poor people who you rob.

Fool,  the primary project developer Sithe Global pulled out of the AFHP in August 2013.

Clown, the PNC got their chance to vett the process, costs and all.  The PPP was willing to go along with the GoG on AFHP for the betterment of the people and to strategically bind the disputed region to Guyana proper.  So, if they can bring it cheaper, do it, we stand ready to back.  Instead the clowns run off on solar which is one of the highest cost power source and they lose the Norway funds.  PNC are a bunch of clowns and jokers.

FOOL, they pulled out due to lack of political consensus, not the economics.  And fool, it was not the end of the process, but the PNC chose to recently cancel the project all together.  Now go and chew your morning pan!

The previous opposition did have a chance to vet the process and costs and they deemed that it was too costly and provided for too much tiefin by the PPP. They subsequently disapproved the project so what's your point? Who in their right mind will pay $1 Billion for a 165 MW plant? The same binding to the disputed region will be possible if they build a 2500-3000 MW plant in collaboration with the Brazilians but the PPP did not pursue this option because it did not provide for the massive pilfering of funds that was going to take place if we went ahead with Amaila Falls. Thankfully the Coalition saved the Guyanese people from the tiefin hands of the PPP and the Amaila Falls goadie which they would have suffered to repay for decades.

Development of large scale hydroelectric power project(s) under the current government no longer exist.

Should future developments take place, it will be by Brazil which will have ownership of the project and Guyana will be one of its customers.

Plans for a large scale hydro power development project do exist under the current government. It is much larger than the poxy little plant at Amaila Falls that the PPP were trying to use to rip off the Guyanese taxpayers. Talks are currently in progress between the Guyana and Brazilian governments on this project. The Brazilian Government cannot just walk into Guyana and build a hydroelectric plant. It has to be done in collaboration with the Guyana Government.
