President encourages CXC top student to aim big

Sanjiv Nandalall, one of Guyana’s top performers at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) examination was given career guidance advice from President Bharrat Jagdeo that would probably guide him throughout his future endeavours.
Nandalall, a former student of the Saraswatie Vidya Niketan school at Cornelia Ida, copped 13 grade ones at CSEC paid a courtesy call on the Head of State today in the company of principal of the school Swami Aksharananda and his father Rabindra Nandalall.
As he mulls his academic and career future, President Jagdeo advised Nandalall to aim big and think carefully in his pursuits. This was after him presented the youth with a certificate.
The student who spoke with the Government Information Agency (GINA) believed that the efforts of qualified tutors and the learning environment which the institution offers, coupled with his dedication to his studies aided his success.
“Once you have the proper learning environment, spiritually, academically, that’s the key to learning,” Nandalall said

Saraswatie Vidya Niketan is among the top performing private schools this year, attaining over 94 percent in grades one to three passes and its principal credited its success to the level of discipline perpetuated.
Although the average common entrance pass requirement for students entering Saraswatie Vidya Niketan is below 470, yet the school has been maintaining a record of pass results equivalent to that of senior schools. This was according to Swami Aksharananda who spoke with GINA.
“We have a close cooperation with parents, and we have a very strong in house insistence on discipline… no cell phones, no ipods etc… most of the students comply and most of the parents support us in that drive,” Swami Aksharananda said.
Anna Hamid was the school’s top performer at last year’s examination, gaining 11 Grade Ones and one Grade Two. She was honoured for her achievements by President Jagdeo who presented her a certificate.
