The closeness of an election should/would not affect the election date.

Political parties do have elected officials in seniority ranking order and an immediate decision will be made if the unfortunate situation happens.

The people do know the hierarchy of a political organization.

While indeed there will be preferences of the selection of individuals in the group, the process must proceed.

Later indeed, the political party can proceed to seek another person to serve in that position.

I will believe out of respect, there should be a new date for election should Granger pass away. Guyanese are very close family and will unite under these circumstances. 

I wish him good health, someone with cancer should not be stressing themselves out.. he should have retire and chill out.
