President Donald Ramotar today joined the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha at the Everest Cricket Club Ground for their Holi celebration.
After mingling with persons who gathered at the location to enjoy the festivities, the Head of State said he was delighted to be a part of such an auspicious occasion.
βIt a great pleasure to be here to celebrate with you because Iβm sure that all of you know that this celebration has many meanings; itβs a celebration of good over evil, beginning of a new page β turning of a new leaf.β
The Head of State told the gathering that the meaning of Holi, can also be applied to everyday life, and more so to what is taking place in Guyana currently.
βAs you know over the past eight years or so our country has been advancing rapidly, and we can grow much faster with everybody working together, but we have seen over the last few years, with almost very developmental project, obstacles are being thrown in our wayβ.
Hence, President Ramotar, said there is the need for every Guyanese to show support and solidarity with the aim of removing the obstacles.
βThat is why we need to work hard to remove those obstacles and move forward, we have to pass the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill to keep the momentum going, we should take Guyana forward and make it the best country in the world that it could beβ.
The President also joined other groups today as they too celebrated Holi, the festival of colours.
The festival of Holi is regarded as a celebration of the colours of unity and goodwill and an opportunity to forget all differences.
