Happy 55th Birthday to Bharrat Jagdeo, the boy from Unity who's shaking up Guyana.

Damn is he 55, time to take back seat.

That boy has been using all his brain cells to brainstorm ways to topple the PNC senior citizens. He met with Granger and they made a pact. Granger saw the light and is atoning for all the PNC sins. Granger is a kinder, gentler, benevolent leader; and he's passing the baton to BJ.

So why are the sugar workers suffering?

Bai Django, I have always said, if you work and make an honest living, you should be proud of it, whether it's slave job or not. God did not give us all the same ability to hold desks jobs. It might be a slave or shit job, somebody has to do it. Producing sugar is still needed in Guyana for its by-products such as molasses and bagasse for electricity.

Don't talk for talk sake, how much bagasse are use for Electricity Production supplied to the public ? less molasses is less rum produced for local consumption, that's good for the nation.

By the way are you aware of the National Development Strategy given to the PPP, one recommendation was to down size the Sugar Estates, because of the aging sugar factory to lower sugar production cost.

The industry is desirable and needed, especially now. However, the PPP killed it beginning with the then Agri minister failing to apply for EU subsidy in time to Jagdeo over building a plant simply so he can get graft and with Ramotar squatting of GUysuco board and yet allowing them to hire neophytes as CEO such as R Singh on gargantum salary while firing others because the sought to streamline purchasing etc.  He also accepted a non functioning plant from the Chinese without warranty. Only an ignoramus does that but this scheme was a leech scheme from the beginning and not truly planned to save the industry. They hoped it would save it.

This is a the combined failure of both parties but Grangers contribution is merely his stupidity after been given a heavily indebted and gutted industry. Note one of the last thing Ramotar did was to sell the co Gen plant at Skeldon to fund some mysterious project ( called elections). Granger ought to have empaneled a bipartisan group composed of sugar workers, those in the management from the past and other experts to down size  the industry and sell portions to reorganize and strengthen what remains. Instead he hired price water house to sell it and it is going at fire sale prices with no replacement enterprise

Most of Guyana's rum is for export, perhaps as a product it brings lots of foreign currency. Presently DDL is importing Molasses because the the remaining factories were not able to fulfill their quota .

Elections in April 2019!

Selecting Irfaan Ally?  This is the best news for the PNC.

CaribJ

Please do not fool yourself. The PNC came into Government because of the AFC.

AFC lost a lot of good faith with their antics towards the no confidence vote.

It is wide open and the PPP stand a decent chance of winning, if the PNC do not go back of their trick of rigging.

Chief please do not fool yourself.  The biggest loser of Charran antics is the Indo faction of the AFC.  APNU will remain a powerful opposition party, given Guyana's demographics, and because of our ethnic polarization the PPP will make direct accommodations to the individual needs of its leaders.

Its those "traitors" from Berbice who fled the PPP plantation who will now be punished, this will be one of the first tasks of President Alli.  The PPP will  be back and filled with vengeance and their angst will be directed against those who they feel deprived them of victory in 2015.

Carib

You are as bitter as some of the PPP boys who was screaming the same nonsense that the APNU AFC  Government will go after thier detractors. That never took place.

You are also trying to drive fear as what the PNC did in1992. At that time they started to tell civil Serbs ts that if they vote non PNC they wil know and there will be retribution .
