Murder accused admits to killing man who sodomised him

 
A man who killed another who he accused of regularly sodomising him when he gets ‘knock out’ will know his fate on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
The accused, Waynewright Courtney Telford, called ‘Baker’, 51, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam had pleaded guilty before Justice Dawn Gregory in the Berbice High Court when he appeared before her on December 4, last, on a charge of murder.
Telford is accused of murdering Michael Kissoon, called ‘Prickle’ or ‘Redman’, 37, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam on April 11, 2010. The accused is alleged to have chopped Kissoon to death after he accused Kissoon of constantly sodomising him at a drug yard in Angoy’s Avenue.
Before the matter began Telford, through his Attorney, pleaded not guilty to murder.
Sentenced was deferred after Attorney at law Charlyne Artiga appearing for him  asked that psychiatric and probation reports be presented on behalf of her client, because of the abnormality of his mind. She also stated that her client attends a clinic.
Presenting the state’s case, Attorney at Law Renita Singh stated that the accused, the deceased and another would sleep under a shed under one Denise Gomes’s house at Angoy’s Avenue. They had begun the practice about three weeks earlier.
He had told investigators that the deceased would usually sodomise him while he was under the influence of narcotics and would fall asleep. He said that when he awoke, each time he would endure the discomfort.
He constantly warned the deceased to desist from such practice, but he continued. One of those episodes took place on the night in question and when the suspect got up he felt pain and when he wiped he felt blood.
Around 07:00 hrs Telford stated that he overheard Kissoon telling another ‘Junky’ name Carlo’ that he buggered Telford last night. She narrated that Telford got into a rage and later saw Kissoon sleeping on a sponge under a shed. He got his cutlass and dealt Kissoon several chops about his body.  He later told the landlady that “ah just f… up that one in deh, because he does ‘bugger’ me in me sleep.”
He then went to the Central Police Station where he reported the matter and was detained.  The victim was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The accused was also taken to the New Amsterdam hospital after complaining of feeling discomfort in various parts of the body. He was medically examine and returned to the New Amsterdam Prison. A Post Mortem examination was done on the body at the New Amsterdam Hospital by Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan and concluded that Kissoon died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple chops about the body.
Telford represented himself during the preliminary inquiry.
The accused had given a caution statement in which he had admitted to the crime.
