President Obama (FINALLY) congratulates Guyana’s new head of state

What took the US so long? Instead of the usual few days after elections to send congratulatory message the US took weeks to do so.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

“I look forward to working with..... you and your "new government"
to "strengthen" the friendship and cooperation between the United States and Guyana,
and to "promote our shared goals of democracy, security and prosperity" throughout the region,” President Obama said.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What took the US President so long????

Ramotar and the PPP had to make a Public statement
(1) admitting (a)"The PPP is now A Minority Govt".....and
(b)"The PPP is A Minority Party in Parliarment"..and
(c)if it was not for Burnham PNC Constitution the "PPP would be now occupying the Opposition Benches where they rightfully belong".

(2) The PPP MUST Further.... acknowledge the realities of the 2011 Election Results and
(a)And as we move forward.....The PPP is now Ready Willing and Able....to ACCEPT their Mistakes and Mismanagement of the Past,
(b)The PPP Must.... CLEAN UP THE MESS THE GUYANA GOVT FINDS ITSELF IN TODAY, and
(c)The PPP Must.....Work with the Oppsiition as Partners and Bring all "Jagdeo Funny Fellas To Justice"
(d)The PPP Understand..... Race Politices is Over...."It is no longer Business as Usual"

This is why ......they are forced to Rally around Moses now....
Nagamootoo is the one responsible for this "Fresh New Start"

Recently President Ramotar was asked about Moses
Nagamootoo, a 50 year PPP member who bolted for the AFC just prior to the 2011 election.

These were President Ramotar's comments:

quote:

"Moses was a PPP stalwart. I always held him in high regard. He was an asset to our party. It was unfortunate that he left the party in anger and bitterness.

But what has been done cannot be undone. What I can say is the PPP is a big party and a big family, and comrade Moses would be welcomed back into the party anytime he chooses. We cannot afford to lose our stalwarts to the other political parties. No question our party lost thousands of votes in regions 5 and 6 because of comrade Moses departure.

I believe in forgiveness. I know the party is willing for forgive comrade Moses and I hope he can forgive us some day.

I am reminded of a quote by Mohandas Gandhi. He once said that "the weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.

The PPP and comrade Moses must both engage in forgiveness. And like I said, comrade Moses is always welcome back home where he belongs."

Clearly Guyana's new president Donald Ramotar is a man of character, integrity, maturity and decency. He had some kind words for Mr. Nagamootoo.

Hope by the time the next election rolls around Moses Nagamootoo wisely returns to his true home.
