President Ramotar, First Lady join in Mash celebrations at National Park
All of the stands at the National Park were packed to capacity as President Donald Ramotar accompanied by First Lady, Deolatchmee Ramotar joined thousands to view the Mashramani costume and float parade.
The Guyanese Head of State seemed very pleased with the level of creativity and cultural messages that they floats depicted as he waved to the revellers who energetically tried to put on a show for the panel of judges.
The Ministries of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Health and Amerindian Affairs had very large contingents, each depicting aspects of the country’s cultural diversity and heritage.
The crowd went wild when the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s contingent came in the National Park led by one of Guyana’s top soca artistes, Jomo Primo who serenaded onlookers from all sides of the tarmac.
This year, Mashramani was celebrated under the theme, “Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44”.
