FT. LAUDERDALE - Guyana's Presidential candidate, Brigadier (retired) David A. Granger accompanied by party executive, Dr. Rupert Roopnarine will meet with supporters in Florida to solicit technical and financial assistance to enhance chances of winning control of the Presidency and Parliament of The Republic of Guyana in the November/December 2011 national elections.

Both Granger and Roopnarine emerged from different political parties which joined under an umbrella party named APNU (A Partnership for National Unity). There are also two additional political parties which have joined APNU.

After fundraisers on September 23 and 24 in Miami and Orlando, a private reception hosted by Jerome and Andy Bulkan of Eurosign Metalwerke, Inc. at the company’s headquarters in Fort Lauderdale will cap the duo campaign swing in Florida. The private reception is set for September 25 between 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.

BACKGROUND:

The current regime in Guyana (PPP = People’s Progressive Party) came into power in 1992 under the leadership of Dr. Cheddi Jagan with broad support. Since the death of Dr. Cheddi Jagan in 1992 and the presidency of current President Bharrat Jagdeo, Guyana has been on a steady decline with an increase in narco-trafficking, violent crimes, unemployment and a general decline of civil society.

The PPP government, under President Bharrat Jagdeo, has been generally anti-American and blames the narco-trafficking in Guyana on American consumption. With corruption within Guyana’s law enforcement ranks, calls by the United States government to establish a DEA office in Guyana have been rejected by President Jagdeo citing sovereignty.

Calls by the United States Department of Justice to extradite Guyanese accused of drug trafficking have also been rejected by the Jagdeo regime. As a mass exodus of the educated class of Guyanese leave the country seeking a safer and better life overseas, Guyana is moving in the direction of being referred to as a failed-state.

The Diaspora of Guyanese in the United States has been surprised with the revelations, through Wikileaks, of the United States Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana cables detailing the involvement of the PPP regime’s involvement in extra-judicial killings, the subversion of the free-press and the shield of narco-traffickers from American justice.

APNU, under the leadership of presidential candidate David Granger intends to stop Guyana’s decline if elected in the next elections which must be held by December 28, 2011. To achieve this goal, Granger will establish law and order while rebuilding the decimated Guyana economy concurrently -with assistance from and cooperation with the United States Government.
