Private sector urges 10-day vote recount in letter to GECOM Chair

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) yesterday wrote to Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Chair Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh urging a 10-day recount of votes and for the process to start in the four districts where there had originally been requests for recounts.

The PSC voiced disquiet that the present recount arrangements could see the process taking 51 days.

The PSC also expressed “deepest concern” over what it said was fraud perpetrated by senior staff of GECOM during the District Four tabulation process leading to a 53-day delay in the presentation of final results.

A list of recommendations was submitted to Singh by the PSC.

The letter by the PSC to Singh follows:

The woman is not going to listen to the Private sector.   She was put their by the PNC and she is going to do whatever they ask her to do. She does not have integrity and she is a bloody you know what.

The PNC does not intend to bring this to any conclusion which favors the PPP.  That’s what having dominance over the armed forces give you. They will all be well compensated with oil money.  Coolies will be chases out over time.

I know many coolies  who had to borrow their passage money at exorbitant rates from dem mattee coolies. Today many are millionaires, taking vacation every year and living the good life. Would you return to Guyana under the PPP? I doubt it.

Why you mixing up people who left and those who live there.  Why would I return when all my children live overseas.

What I’m saying, the PNC will not allow any outcome favoring the PPP and those who enabled will be well compensated with oil money!  What does that have to do with what you wrote?

I am responding to your statement: Coolies will be chases out over time.

Many Coolies started to transfer their wealth back in Cheddi Days; after he declared himself to be a Communist. The exodus continued and amplified under Burnham. Very few of my friends or associates have any desire to go back to Guyana, even for a visit.
