Dear Editor,
As I watched my father, Moses Nagamootoo make his final appearance at the Parade Ground and utter his final words of the campaign to the people of Guyana, I could not help but think that he has given it his all; he has made the choices and decisions he had to make to help secure a better Guyana for all.
He has given 50 years of service and sacrifice for our country and throughout all his struggles and sacrifices we have stood by his side, like any devoted children would. As his children, we want to let him know that whatever the outcome is now, as always, we will support him unconditionally just as we have done all our lives.
We know that whatever he is doing is for the people of Guyana and our country, like any true patriot. We have accepted him for who he is and have, without question, accepted his political endeavours and his unwavering desire to secure a better Guyana not only for his four children but for all the children of Guyana â especially for the children of Guyana since we are now grown and have built a life of our own.
We have watched him fighting injustices under PNC dictatorship and now under PPP Jagdeo misrule. We have lived in the fear of losing him as he struggled for the people of Guyana. This is and will always be the most heart-wrenching fear that his children have to live with.
We are content with who he is as our dad and would like to have him by our sides always and out of Guyana politics, but we realize that this is his passion and his love for our country and our people runs deeper than anyone could imagine, and we respect him for never giving up on an opportunity to help improve the lives of the Guyanese people.
We are forever proud of him for being the dad that any child would be proud off. He is truly the dad of every Guyanese child for wanting to secure a better life for all of them.
I only hope that the Guyanese people have returned that favour to his children and wife who stood relentlessly with him as he fought for a country that as Guyanese we can all be proud of, by taking the initiative and voting for change.
As he called upon the people of Guyana to walk with him and share in the moment of reclaiming the countryâs pride, uniting all Guyanese and recreating a country that symbolizes honesty and not corruption, racial unity and not division, equality and not injustice, it was all up to the people of Guyana to make the change.
My father defined not only the moment by his courage and determination to restore Guyanaâs pride, but the moment defined him as well, being a son of Guyana who will do whatever it takes to protect the interest of the people and the nation.
Like a true statesman he placed country above self.
It is time for him to sit back and rest. He has done all that he can. Yesterday it was for the people of Guyana to make the change.

Dear Editor,
With the latest move by President Bharrat Jagdeo to appoint Mr Irfan Ally as Minister of Housing and Works to replace Mr Harry Narine Nawbatt, who is going to take up an appointment as the Guyana Ambassador to Brazil, the writing is clearly on the wall for PPP stalwart Mr Moses Nagamootoo, that he is not needed in the Jagdeo administration. Both Ally and Nagamootoo are Members of Parliament in the PPP/C government.
When President Jagdeo won the 2006 general election, Nagamootoo was not given a ministerial post. He was made a Member of Parliament. When Minister of Foreign Affairs Rudy Insanally resigned, Ms Carolyn Rodrigues, the Minister of Amerindian Affairs was made Minister of Foreign Affairs. Even when Carolyn Rodrigues moved to the foreign ministry Moses Nagamootoo was not even considered for the post of Minister of Amerindian Affairs. That went to Ms Pauline Sukhai, a Parliamentary Secretary in the PPP/C government. And then Nagamootoo was again by-passed for the ministerial post of Minister of Housing and Water, which has gone to a younger member, Irfan Ally.
Moses Nagamootoo seemed to make a comeback in the PPP when he was elected to the Central Committee, but he was not elected to the Executive Committee from which the 2011 presidential candidate will come.
The latest move by the party has signalled the end of a top post for Moses Nagamootoo in the PPP/C government. Nagamootoo is sixty years old and definitely out as the presidential candidate for 2011 election. By time the election after that comes in 2016, Nagamootoo will be in his seventies, and too old to run for the presidency.
Moses Nagamootoo has been treated badly by the PPP since the death of Dr Jagan. He has been over forty years in the party, struggling side by side with Dr Cheddi Jagan fighting the Burnham and Hoyte administrations for free and fair elections. He felt the wrath of the PNC but never gave up. To see someone like him treated so badly by the Jagdeo administration brings sadness to many Nagamootoo and PPP supporters. Probably he is paying for his sins for walking away from the PPP and telling them he âdon with you all,â and because he is a friend of Khemraj Ramjattan and Freddie Kissoon who are critics of the PPP/C government.

Plumpy was not only insensitive. She was crude and callously disrespectful of a serious issue being introduced by Ms Lawrence. By intruding with jeers and suggestion that the opposition is in with the rapist this pretentious nitwit simply told the world who she is.
The topic being discussed was the neglect in our society for rapes, and other sexual exploitation of our young girls. This habitual underachiever, had the opportunity to addressed this issue during her tenure of minister responsible for these issues. We got nothing from her then and to be so nasty now reveals her soul. She just does not care,
Do you not think the opposition had ammunition to respond if such similar childish behavior served a purpose? We have numerous ministers etc of the PPP accused of similar infracions. There is beri beri, then the pandit that is commonly called the pedophile pandit, suspicions a bout why Gnaga resigned and the reality that Minister Benn may have a son who is a serial abuser of women! Benn jr who was accused of stomping on the face and stomach of his pregnant girlfriend? But good people know when to avoid behaving like a crude insensitive ass.
